Midlands Today have just unveiled some new titles - a 'rehash' of the existing ones including some of the old images and some new ones - I'm sure I saw one of the images from the South Today titles!! They look nice though, and they're now proper 14:9 rather than 4:3 cropped to 14:9 which meant the quality really looked poor.
Intresting - NWT also used re-hashed titles at 1.30 today as well, one of the shots was from Look North Newcastle I think. And they were shown in 14:9 as well, rather than 4:3 cropped to 14:9 (stings still cropped though).
They used the titled again at 6.30 with the Look North Newcastle insert but one of the clips have been dropped for some reason. It looks better as they are designed for proper 16:9 use, even though BBC Manchester doesn't have proper 16:9 facilities for the News yet. But it looks better and they have fixed the colour problem on the North West Tonight titles.
Central News was fantastic with Bob live inside the Molinuex and live with Sir Jack. Jon and Jo was inside the studio.
the empty, silent stadium didn't really work for me - being as the whole story was supposed to be about the euphoria surrounding wolves promotion to the premiership. perhaps outside the stadium with a few fans behind or in the city centre would have added something. of course they would have had to coax sir jack out of moineux to do his interview or pre-record it ... mind you would they want to interview him after he declared his undying love for midlands today last night nick owen looked as proud as punch after that.
jo malin is on midlands today tonight - all be it in the background at the miss saigon premiere - ashley blake comments "those from the other side". i wonder if kay was there.
A totally desasterous episode of Midlands Today tonight. We started we Nick Owen out at Molinuex, with very low sound. Then all of the wolves fans around him started cheering, and he was drowned out complietely. We clunked over to Suzanne for the headlines, and then the titles ran. When they finished, they didn't seem to know where to go, and so there was a slight pause, before we cut to Suzanne in the studio (wrong angle.) She finally started. All went well untill we went back to Molinuex. There was a report on top of the wolves bus, and the picture went totally wrong. Back we went to Suzanne again.

ROFL it was a true epic - mind boggling by even pebble mill standards, a real joy to watch.
yesterday i (and a few other people) were fearing the new flashes in the headlines and nice lighting in the studio could mean they are becoming too proffesional - but my faith is restored!! it really was like a half hour version of a sharuna saga midlands breakfast update.
still captures do not do the events any justice - so here are the video clips:
- once we finally cross to nick - he crosses to daniel pallet on the open top bus ... and they decide to play out some random VT on top. meanwhile we hear someone say "on the beta" "microphone please" then nick shouts "MICROPHONE PLEASE"

the "voices" report tonight was about some townies in wolverhampton - and they used the lovely comic sans ms font for the name captions. i wonder if this was another sue beardsmore camcorder news insert like last night?
