With regards to what I posted earlier about A Mind to Kill, there were seven episodes made in the third series, 3 were shown in English on HTV Wales, 4 were shown in Welsh on S4C (A.M.T.K is known as Yr Heliwr) and all 7 episodes were shown on Channel 5.
A couple of local news changes in England have got me thinking about future changes to Wales’ news programmes, which will probably happen some time this year. Calendar’s new colour scheme is quite nice in my opinion, and they have a familiar tune which they’ve kept to for twenty years. Whereas Wales doesn’t have this for its local ITV news, I hope it doesn’t become quite as minimalist as Calendar has, as I'm not fond of their new studio at all.
HTV News isn’t *that* overdue for a revamp, it still looks pretty much ok. I’ve never liked the trumpets or the astons, but the studio and graphics are nice. It’s not the most overdue region -- Grampian's and Carlton London's have been around longer [so it's about third oldest], but new music and a new name is probably on the cards. Each revamp has always been a dramatic departure from the one before, music and studio-wise. I hope it’s still warm yet authoritative and not lots of standing up by the newsreaders. If there’s standing up to be done, handing over to Nick Partridge or Jo Kiernan is better IMO.
Wales Today will probably get done this year, following the national look and again, if this is anything like the daytime bulletins, will be variations on the minimalist white titles and plain laminate flooring, round desk etc. Boo. It’s all very cold and pretend ‘buzzing-newsroom’-y. I’m not tired of WT yet either, even though it’s 4 years old, but it’s a shame it can’t have a different look to the national like in England [it's a silly rule] -- landscapes would be nice, and English regions also now have a few more freedoms to do their own thing, within reason.
I hope the Nations can too. All this generic-ness is wearisome. They have 2W News and Newyddion to be thinking of too, since they’re all under the generic BBC umbrella, Newyddion being close to the National and 2W is a jazzed up version of WT. Course they all share the same studio so it has to be thought out carefully, easily adapted, lots of character etc..
That ambulance driver charged for speeding story was on Wales Today as well [everyone seems to be claiming it for themselves], and Rageh Omaar was in Hay-on-Wye -- a little different to Baghdad, I’m sure..
There was a renactment of a police raid but it looked like Hywel George was playing one of the policemen in the reconstruction!
Does Hywel still work for HTV as we havent seen him on the news for ages now?
I saw Hywel JAMES in town with his boyfriend the other day. I'm not sure if he still works in news, or even if he does the Grass Roots programme.
Hywel James no longer works for HTV News - I didnt know he had a boyfriend!
Im going to the Urdd Eisterfodd as part of work as it in Margam, Port Talbot this year which is close to where I live and I hope I see someone from HTV News - today Stuart Mcteer was there - I hope its Justina, Juliet or Catharine they send when im there cos i would like to mee them
It appears that the announcements on ITV1Wales are still live and from Cardiff!
We just heard Sue introduce the ITV News at ten (at 22:45) and she said later than billed!
This must surely prove that LIVE announcements are still being made?
Although, News At When is often "later than billed" these days!
C'mon pod'ner, wake up to the realities of modern tv ( that's television not transvestism in case notnormal is online ) - there was live soccer , with the possibility of extra time etc. so all eventualities would have been covered beforehand.
