Yes, some different shots in the 6.30 show with a guest in the studio.
So that's what they're doing to make the 6.30 show different - live hangings!
Pretty much agree with the consensus here - the music especially lets it down. Glad though that despite Mr Desmonds insistence on it being "Channel 5" the "5 News" branding has survived.

I actually quite like the music - to me its different to any other news programme and has a bit of originality about it...
I think the new look has been quite a success. The programme feels a lot more authoritative - although that's perhaps because I don't expect Mr. Chips to turn up in the title sequence any more. The weather graphics are great (but again we're comparing them to the previous ones so anything usable would have been an improvement).
If for some reason I wasn't able to watch Channel 4 News I'd probably watch the 5pm edition of this.
The only niggle I have is that the 'newsy' music and studio do not fit with the content of the show. At first I didn't care for the music but it has grown on me, I must admit..
Does anyone have the TV ratings for the first 5 News bulletins from ITN? Especially the 5pm. Thanks!
I can't imagine they'd be much different to when it was produced by Sky News, it's not like normal folk would have been tuning in to see the new set or if there was a change in editorial direction of the programme.
