Does nobody think it's got a similar feel to the 2002-2004 era? With perhaps the mash of Natasha Kaplinski era for the pink/red.

Theme music and opening title graphics are absolutely shocking. The previous music sounded so much better and fitted Five News quite well I thought.

Or the autocue operative not being used to his speed/vice versa.

Yes agree with that 100% - nowhere near as good as either though IMHO

How can anyone not think the Kaplinsky era was awful, look wise?

I'm not familiar with the rest of your work but given your name I will not be taking your opinion on board.

From the short clip from the afternoon the music seems different to the norm, I'm not sure on it yer, the titles are much better than the last couple of Sky offerings.

Graphics are good also.

Yeah, I'm not sure on the music, but maybe I'll get used to it. I wasn't too keen on the previous music to begin with but it really grew on me. Visually the titles and graphics are much better though, was never keen on the rather garish blue and red.

And I like the Kaplinsky look!

Love the new look. Of course there are a few niggles but the music isn't that bad in my opinion. The whole thing looks very Channel 4 though.

Although not a single tie in sight!

I hope this studio (when ready) is used a bit more than the last, I remember. Few reporters in the studio at times from what I have seen but this new (cso look) makes it even bigger and just needs to be used a bit more, maybe the left hand side that wall with the two screens could be used for something.

The Kaplinski look was better when Isla made the Five News at Seven a bit different using the set a lot standing for the start and sitting to speak to guests and her walk about when she tried some boots on!


Anyone know if the glass 5 news logo has been kept on for the studio, or was that a Sky only thing? That was introduced in the Kaplinski era and I preferred the worded logo.

I doubt it, as there is a much improved new logo now where the text '5' and 'news' do not overlap. Maybe a cash strapped Sky News could flog it on eBay, I'm sure some anorak would buy it.
