And I'm sure there will be a few still pining for the old look once it goes away with the most curmudgeonly leaving under the assumption that having things not look like they did means that it's another sign of dumbing down.
Poor sods, far too smart to be around these proles clearly.
no but they DID start doing other things near the end of whatson. I think it was more to do with trying to use it to push tickets for BBC shows rather than external things but it did seem to be getting bigger (and flakier) near the end.
Ah, I wasn't aware of that. I suppose it explains the 'tickets' and 'be on a show' links on the page above.
Officially, but I've seen a couple of hints that an early February launch is likely. It was mentioned on both of the weekend live texts, and I've seen this tweet too...

Went to a talk on the new #BBC Sport website today. Will be launched on Wednesday and is very ambitious, especially for football. #bbcsport
Obviously could be bull, but I'm inclined/want to believe it!
1920 SPORT: Just a quick reminder - BBC Sport is to relaunch its website on Wednesday. The most popular sections will be updated first, with a new look for the UK and overseas homepage, football and other key pages at the centre of the initial launch in February.
Looks like it'll be using the GEL 3.5 black header which turns to white on rollover. I suspect it'll take me a few hours / day or so to get used to the new layout. Of course expect a flood of complains on the BBC blogs & PoV message board from people who don't like it/change.

Dumbing Down! TV Tax! Liberal Agenda!
But the GEL 3.5 header is very ugly when in full on rollover effect mode and mildly unappealing when it isn't, can't fault them for complaining about it.
