Then they probably had some smaller changes to the main news set, I can't really notice them, they are using the new visuals on those screens behind, that's all I notice.

I prefer the Los Desayunos set anyway. They also got a new opening and graphics.

I see now the new look debuted on Saturday

I expected to see RTVE's corporate typeface, Officina RTVE (a modified version of ITC Officina, as seen on the case study for RTVE's corporate identity), on the L3s, or at least on the opening sequence. But I see they didn't want to.

(They do use Officina RTVE for their election coverage)

I love that new music. So good to listen to!!

Speaking about typeface, looks like Gotham is becoming standard font for Australian news design: ABC and Ten is using it, and Seven once did. (Sunrise still uses it though.) Recently, Nine has joined the trend by employing a Gotham-lookalike. (Proxima Nova I guess?)

Seriously, among the existing typefaces, what would be a good one for both on-screen graphics and news on TV?

The change I don't like in new TVE look is that they don't have a nice shot of the set after the new opening of TD. It's just a short ident.

Also, for years now they don't have proper endings to their bulletins, instead it's music or just a report. Was better before.

and a look at TVE's temporary set for Telediario. believe it or not, it's their regular set for the weather (but with the addition of a desk)!

How on earth did they manage in that studio when Los Desayunos, the weather and the two news programmes were in there then?! Only just realised that that studio is used for weather as well. No green screen in sight!

And yes, Ana Pastor is amazing!

^^ It's not hard to fit in Desayunos with national bulletins cause Desayunos airs at 9am and two Telediarios at 15.00. and 21.00.
The problem is the morning Telediario Matinal that runs from 06.30 till 9. I think they did it from the news channel set, I remember seeing it used early in the morning and thinking it was strange. But I was not aware of them refreshing the main set so I didn't make the connection.

Really love watching TVE, it's has live shows almost all day long and they are all good quality with great presenters. My favorite has to be La Manana de la 1 with Marilo Montero, a show that goes on for 4 hours and includes news, health/lifestyle discussions, aerobic exercise, politics/society topics discussion, gossip and cooking.

I thought about the complicated crossover from Telediario Matinal to Los Desayunos as well.

Have to agree with you about La Mañana de la 1. I watch it occasionally and it's what This Morning on ITV should definitely try to replicate. It covers a lot more high-brow areas, news and topical issues, takes some elements from The One Show to a certain degree. Lots of exercise and some really good recipes!! 4 hours as well is very impressive.

Looking at the news studio at the moment, I think the only changes are making the screen on the right widescreen and maybe changing the 'TD' logo on the perspex glass around the studio.

TVE as a whole organisation runs rings around the competition. It's a shame that it will be subject to 200 million euros of cuts, similar to what we're seeing at BBC, with cuts of 20% as well. It will be interesting to see what budgetary cuts they actually make.

Are you fluent in Spanish? I study it at university, and I just find lots of their programming very useful to watch, and also to compare to BBC as well.

I understand Spanish really well most of all cause I watched a lot of telenovelas as a kid, never really studied it.

Watching a lot of TVE helps too. I agree they do a great job as public broadcaster but I didn't know about those cuts. I hope Manana de la 1 won't be hit by it, Marilo is now dating TVE boss so I hope that helps.
