ITN Morning News at 5:00AM 1989

Gotta say, still gives me chills to watch those 2 clips. I was a massive ITN fan during my few years in London. I remember as a primary school kid waking up before the 5AM news and heading down to watch the Morning News. I loved ITN's opening titles for both clips (the 1PM open impresses to this day), graphics, themes and readers, and the fact they played clips from CNN during this newscast. As to the clips themselves, John Suchet is just a fantastic reader here - I love the impact of his dramatic L-O-N-G first intro, Jeremy Thompson's stunning first report and the weight of the other world news stories. What a powerful newscast. I also just dug the closing theme. And about Brenda Rowe's morning news, I love Brenda for one thing, loved the fact Thames was all over the place at the start of the clip (cannot believe the announcer was there at 5AM for the live intro, I used to take that stuff for granted then! Also, my guess for the 5:03AM start is ITN was having issues preparing the late-breaking story of the United crash. As for Thames' Evadne Fisher, for some reason, I imagine her and the nightowl gang puffing on ciggies all night at the Thames studios!!). Young Andy Michaelson's sound grab still moves me. 2 of my favourite clips!

The upcoming Swedish news channel TV4 News unveiled its ident recently. Looks quite slick.

I didn't realise they were launching one. They've pretty much got a channel for every imaginable genre (oh, except kids shows).

TVE national news bulletins have finally gone widescreen. They also refreshed their graphics, opening and got a new music, it's more dramatic and sounds great. Set is still the same and news channel is still 4:3.

They've been in a smaller studio for a few weeks now, the same one used for Los Desayunos. Glad to hear what you had to say. Finally!!
