Great article on the current mess CNNI is.

After a lot of travelling recently, I've been really shocked at just how bad CNN has become. Each time I tuned in expecting NEWS I got sport, or taped programming. Some truly awful bloke presented something called Prism. It wasn't news, it was features dressed up as news. The interviewer (who's actually a good auto-cue reader but totally out of his depth when dealing with interviews) was either clearly reading every question or got so lost with his rambling enquiries, it was totally toe-curling. I think he's called Errol something and would be far more suited to reading breakfast bulletins on Daybreak rather than pretending to be a hot shot anchor.
BBC World is better - at least it's mostly news - but my word it's sooo boring. There's just no real presentational flair and there seemed to be a bizarre, constant focus on Pakistan and India and barely anything about Europe or the wider world.
What on earth has gone wrong?

You'd have been watching Errol Barnett. Probably should still be on weekend early mornings in Atlanta, but he's been 'covering' Prism in Abu Dhabi for a year now and I guess no one else wanted such a long, and seemingly open ended assignment

Hmmm not bad, however I would put American Morning - Wake Up Call in at 10.30am and then American Morning from 11am onwards just to see how well it fairs against FOX and Friends Live....

I saw a bit of yesterday's 9/11 programme. Quite impressive.

The only issue I have with CNN International is it not being 16:9 - are there any plans to bring it into the 21st century?

Bejeez! My favourite CNN anchor Fionualla is on now anchoring LIVE from Poland. What happened to her? She suddenly looks skinny skinny!!! I want to campaign for Fin to be the new anchor of something. She's the best at CNN.

The world's news leader started airing replays of Quest Means Business this week, 8 hours after it originally airs at 0400 CTE, 1000 HK time. So Asia gets all the latest business news, 8 hour old business news that is. Rolling Eyes Shocked

I don't watch CNN very often, but this is so poor. Only on strikes normally do the BBC repeat their programming. Are there any official-ish figures to suggest that CNN is indeed the world news leader in terms of viewers, or is it BBC World News?

Theres a survey of upmarket audiences where CNNI is the leader, but no global ratings

How on earth could CNN be the world's news leader. The station has gone down hill over the years it's a joke. They are usually so slow with the news when something is happening i think "why bother", they spend a lot of time on anything America related.

For me AJE is how an international news channel should be.

Errol Barnett is leaving us here in the UAE tonight and is off on vacation in Atlanta for two weeks. One assumes it's Ralitsa and Jim on Prism for the next two weeks??
