On BBC One just then there was a fake Thames Television ident leading into the Celebrity Total Wipeout programme. It showed the London skyline, the bouncy red balls rising up and the official Thames Television ident theme. It was quite nice to hear the theme tune again on prime time telly and even the continuity announcer played along saying just before it showed 'This really is BBC One'. Laughing

I am wondering if there has been other ITV style idents shown recently on BBC One?

Unfortunately not. Sad

As it is part of the actual programme it should be on iPlayer later.

The main continuity is missing (obviously) but the Thames mock is there.

It's not bad actually...

Actually that entire opening segment most probably spoofs something else - I'm sure I've seen it somewhere before but I can't place it. Also, what is that music from?

Slightly reminiscent of the original Family Fortunes titles... but also something else as well that I can't bring to mind.

It makes you wonder what on earth they were thinking? Obv some sort of Saturday night 70s cheese-fest. But being an anorak, surely an LWT spoof would have been more fitting?!

Yes. The script and style were just like this...

although I guess the brief was just to make it look like a general 80s game show rather than Blankety Blank specifically, otherwise they would have surely used the real theme tune or a piece of music that sounded like it.

Here is how the BBC One England CA introduced the programme...

The classic Thames skyline spoof was of course by Kenny Everett
