Wow! That's a find.

If anybody knows, can I ask how shows like SM:TV are recorded in archives as there were shows within the show? For example, the first show seemed to include an episode of Cow and Chicken. Would this episode include Cow and Chicken in the archives or just the studio links?

That bed did get annoying after a while. Interesting that the main show seemed to be an hour long back then.

The first show & subsequently a few others (I know the 3rd episode did) ran for just an hour, to give promince to CD:UK for an hour, which was the main part of the show when it began. The reason that they had to be off the air by 11:30 (could have been 11:15) was due to ITV F1 coverage. In the longer early days Dexter's Lab also features, before they began to air American sitcoms, namely Sabrina.

There's an old post on here by Robin Blamires with all the SMTV theme tunes (the links sadly no longer work), so I did know this already.

But you could think that the famous theme tune was made to go with the titles, since it matches so perfectly and has sound effects too, such as the dog barking.

In my years online I thought I'd never say this, but if you've got an hour or 2 to kill, take a look on AidanLunn's channel on YouTube, he's uploaded plenty of BBC, YTV, STV and C4 continuity from the mid 80s, a lot from Christmases past too....

I've just spent a very enjoyable evening doing just that! I've particularly enjoyed some of the stuff he's uploaded today; some of his Scottish TV videos have confirmed that the ITN Weekend News changed looks right at the end of 1987. I'd always assumed it changed to the new blue and gold ITN logo on 1 January 1988, as shown in the video on TV Ark, but he's just uploaded a news bulletin from Boxing Day 1987 showing it in use then.
