I know this is about Media but its about the media pages in wikipedia, which are nothing to shout about.
Its unbelievable the amount of page which are totality useless or missing facts, I have finally upgrade the Blockbusters and ITV night pages, to a decent stranded, ( some grammar issues remain)
When it comes to some of the gameshow pages some people are not happy with the broadcast/epiosde dates give in the page and keep removing them. I have managed to keep a few page with the details attach but many others keep getting withdrawn. I have double checked paper/ tv listing and there match up but there demand ON-LINE SOURCE. There no chance that this info will be place on line somewhere; Ref to offline newspaper or offline stuff is not good enough which is bonkers.
Remember, original research is not allowed on Wikipedia, which is probably why they are removing the dates.
SO even if I have phone up Scottish television and others and ask nicely is these date correct and there are 100% correct? Wiki would still remove them? no wonder the thing is failing
You need a reliable source to confirm your findings are accurate.
Don't Newspapers count? offline and online not count? that a printed source, it clear has the broadcast date but I been told that still not good enough..

The people at wikipedia are not going to go off looking for old newspapers to see if your information is correct. You must cite the information, eg by adding a link to the articles url.

2/3 off the newspaper are not online, on top of that I have seen plenty of ref for books: there not online either
Offline sources are permitted, but you still have to provide a citation as to that is where you got the information from. For a list of archived broadcasts not available online, you would probably have to provide a description of which newspaper and which date that edition was published for each episode you date. This allows other editors to independantly find somewhere with an archive of that newspaper (the publisher / some libraries) to confirm your findings.
As Wikipedia is a community effort, if someone is removing your dates from the page, have you brought it up on the talk page to find out what the issue is? Once you have that discussion going on the Talk page, it's normally frowned upon for editors to act without a consensus.
The easy option would be for you to set up a webpage dedicated to the programmes, listing the broadcast dates (along with details on how you got them), and then cite your webpage as the source. Alternatively, could you get the people behind the UK Gameshows site to put them up, I've definitely seen them cited as a source before.

I have tried to in REF bar " the times newspaper date April - June" that still not good enough I cant put in every single date for some show which screened daily.
Alas some of the date on UK game show are incorrect, I have managed to get some changed,
one of the points is Sky One, 1994 to 28 March 1995. it did finsh in Oct 94 and replaced by spellbound ( paul colia ) that end date in March 95 I believe is the end of when Central /Anglia finished broadcast these episode ( 3 times a week) I have to double check this last piece sometime soon, ( the same time as new london night time service started)
I think the long and short of it is if you can't adequately cite your sources there's no point in doing it. make a webpage or something and add a link at the bottom if you think it's relevant original research - but even then this cant count as a source.
Im rather peed off with this place now, After 18 months hard work and including the pic there now decided that all the pic on there are no longer valid, so there have all been taken off the Night time page.
Bonkers, how can there justify this? it then prove some of the other admins incompetent
