Are the BBC allowed to cover the F1 world feed logo?
*

I believe they aren't allowed to superimpose their own graphics during race-time but before (before the 5-minute sting) and after (not sure what point) they can do what they like.

5mins after perhaps then, just so the graphics can be seen for the presentation on the podium. I am surprised the driver conference is not included.

You might be right about the podium as the BBC seem to always cut back to Jake Humphrey at the end of it.

The press conference can be a long wait, and if the race has run long then broadcasters won't always take it anyway; many don't at all. It's not the most exciting of things to watch.

I didn't mean it had to be shown just anything covering the F1 logo. The BBC haven't always been able to show it and they mention it can be viewed online.

Although they sometimes opt over the world feed during race time (as they did today) to provide their own replays which are usually completely clean of any graphics including the F1 logo.

I thought I dreamt that, what part was it because I thought it was the replay of someone passing Rosberg? I have looked at iplayer and could find anything.

It was the clip of Alonso's DRS opening outside of the allowed area.

Five separate OBs, two helicopters, four motorbike cameras - it's a big undertaking! I've heard talk that next year's could be HD - though it's going to require significantly more bandwidth than what they're using at the moment.

Anybody know how that compares to the Tour De France which has been in HD for a few years now?

This truck was built to do the radio links for the Tour de France in the early 2000's, able to support ten feeds.

It was built to take in the feeds from various recievers for the different feeds, and then switch them to lines which are used by production. This was needed to allow them to use two helicopters as mid-point links simultaneously (allowing them to swap without needing to switch off transmitters in the helicopters). All of the motorbikes were uplinked to the helicopters which then sent their pictures back to this truck.

Don't know if it's still being used, it was a new vehicle though, but it will obviously have to have been upgraded for HD. The photo was taken when it was being used for the men's marathon at the Athens Olympics (4 motorbikes, 1 lead vehicle and 2 helicopters with cameras and 2 helicopters for midpoint links).

Well the FOM did show a replay at http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b010j7cl/?t=1h46m10s just a shame they cannot then communicate the reason for these replays to the broadcasters.
And just in case someone asks I found the BBC's replay http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b010j7cl/?t=2h10m20s

all this modern technology on live feeds to the marathon and they can't get over the fact a bridge will always break up a live satelight signal

Sadly even modern technology has to obey the laws of physics. If you have a transmitter on the back of a motorbike which is transmitting to a helicopter at least a few hundred feet above, putting stuff in the way of that signal will affect it's ability to work. Especially when it has to be small and light enough to fit on the bike and helicopter in the first place.
