Yes, it's interesting to see that used as a logo on the 90's style slides and the times in a 24 hour clock

That channel was BBC Europe, it was essentially a simulcast of BBC1/2 - hence the domestic news and programmes like Anne and Nick appearing. AIUI when the programme on BBC1 couldn't be shown the one of BBC2 would be substituted, if neither could go out internationally they'd schedule something else. Operationally its modern equivalent is probably the original BBC HD channel

Nice find and an interesting bit of presentation.

BTW, it reminded me of this quote poking fun at trainspotters:

"Now this train," he was saying, "is a Metro-Cammel self-sealed unit built at the Swindon works, at a guess I'd say between July 1986 and August, or at the very latest September, of '88. At first I thought it couldn't be a Swindon '86-'88 because of the cross-stitching on the seatbacks, but then I noticed the dimpled rivets on the side panels, and I thought to myself, I thought, What we have here, Cyril my old son, is a hybrid."

If you recognize the source of the quote, award yourself a point!

Yes, how strange is the way they pronounce the times at the end of trailers!

"Tonight at twenty twenty" rather than "Tonight at eight twenty".

Damn you Col, you beat me to it. What a clip though, more weird to see they actively promoted TV-am and ILR.

So, not YouTube Gold as such, but still some excellent mocks of the current BBC News look, including a recreating of the current generic titles from the News channel. It is actually incredibly hard to look at it as a mock.

The michalg1991 channel in general has some great recreation/mocks.

I know it's been mentioned previously but some amazing stuff is being uploaded to the "BBCTVContinuity" YouTube channel at the moment, including the respective launches of the Balloons and the '97 2s, in superb quality:

Balloon debut

First showing of Aerial and re-edited Steam
