Liam Dutton has mentioned on twitter a few times that the overnight forecaster does the 5:30am shipping forecast as virtually the last thing on shift. All the others are done by the Radio 4 continuity announcers.

Isn't the 5.55am BBC One / NC forecast the last thing live for the overnight forecaster?
Again, according to Liam's twitter feed, yes - hence the ' virtually the last thing' in my post about the shipping forecast.
One of the telly weather forecasters does the Shipping Forecast these days, as I understand it.
