anyone know if there has been a weather presenter reshuffle?
I haven't seen rob mcelwee, jay wynne or elizabeth saary for weeks. Dan Corbet seems to be doing the lunchtime shift a lot more and Peter Gibbs and Phil Avery doing evening shifts...

Definetely been a pretty big reshuffle going on as Laura Tobin has also been doing the News at Six weather and Matt Taylor and Nick Miller appearing on the News at One.

Laura Tobin was on Janice Long's show on Monday, and she commented there was bad virus going round-- may explain some people's absence of late?

Technical problem with the weather studio so Phil Vowels has had to read it out over a slide just now.

No weather on BBC One just now, just a BBC One slide with an example image of the weather graphics, and the announcer reading the weather.

He simply said there were problems in the weather studio..

We didn't get the weather on BBC One South East. They held the last shot of the regional news for ages and when I checked BBC One London I heard the end of the weather over a slide. I assumed it was a problem with BBC One London regional news rather than BBC One network. I guess someone at BBC South East saw the problem and tried to cover it up. What did other regions do?

Here in Yorkshire, Look North ended and the slide appeared. The announcer said over the slide that there were problems in the weather studio, and he read out the weather instead. Maybe South East weren't sure what was going to happen so stayed on just in case?

Same thing happened in Wales however the weather graphic on the left of the screen showed Scotland!

Northern Ireland ran with the forecast caption and Phil Vowels.

I guess now that pres is in a different building to the weather studios, having the weather presenter do a radio style forecast from the continuity booth is trickier than it once was. I guess even getting a feed from the weather centre's radio studio into pres would take a bit of coordination, assuming it was available.

Watching Countryfile, should be interesting to see if they can go ahead with the Countryfile forecast if they're having technical problems. AFAIK the Countryfile forecast is done live.

Although was that ever a contingency? I don't ever remember the weather being done in audio only, the backup has been a read by the announcer for many years. The announcer always has a short weather script ready just in case
