So Mike Nesbitt isn't the only former UTV man with a view to standing for Parliament.

On UTV's Twitter feed:

Frank Mitchell's full interview w/ alleged rape victim who was paid £45,000 by Fr Quinn in exchange for her silence: http://bit.ly/bgvaUS

Alright, it's not an EXCLUSIVE report by Sharon O'Neill, but Mr Weather Watching Camera?!? This takes the urine.

More UTV Twitter incredulity:
Quote:
UTV's Ruth Gorman went for a test drive in a rally car w/ Kenny McKinstry 2day. Watch the video... unmissable: http://bit.ly/cFHgRK

Erm, didn't Pamela Ballantine co-drive with McKinstry on-off for years, without the screaming, the same level of hype and the lightness of hair non-chemically induced? You'd never think anyone who worked at Havoc House ever took a spin in a rally car.

Come to think of it, have UTV axed "RPM"?

Nope, it's on as we speak!

How fabulous (not) to see UTV devote air time in a news programme to a celebrity awards event in Belfast. Whoever the reporter was (sounded like Aideen Kennedy on voice, but I'm sure I heard interjections from Marky Mark and another blonde woman) who asked Eamonn Holmes about his pre-ceremony reaction to a SURPRISE honour he was receiving that night really deserves a special mention.

God help you all in Wales.

Both BBC Northern Ireland and UTV have commenced their coverage of the imminent Election.

From Broadcasting House, Noel Thompson sets out his stall along with the launch of BBC Northern Ireland's Election portal. EDIT: BBC NI's Twitter has been running since Tuesday.

At UTV, they've also set up base on Twitter and it appears Ken Reid's blog is UTV's website hub for the moment.

Just seen Fearghal McKinney pop up on Newsline speaking on behalf of the SDLP about the Quinn Group protests in the centre of Enniskillen. Also spotted later in programme during Julian Fowler's live OB stood behind Arlene Foster being interviewed by someone probably not from UTV, despite being female.

Newsline have also started constituency profiles in the build-up to the Election; Gareth Gordon reporting for BBC NI on South Antrim tonight, with Tracey Magee (I think, hope to God it wasn't O'Neill) seen in cutaways doing perhaps a similar thing for UTV. Just hope they've remembered to name all the candidates on their reports.

Ooh, Stephen Watson reporting from the Masters in Augusta! Surely he's also there to report for the News channel?

Newsline are starting their tour of the constituencies tonight; Noel Thompson will be in Banbridge.

Still a lack of affirmation from UTV on what they are doing about the Election, no wonder our Marc got confused between evening and afternoon when introducing the lunchtime news. Or maybe this fitness regime is getting too much for the poor wee thing. And it's him and Jar-Jar Clarke on UTV Live at Six tonight apparently.

Just noticed on Gordon Adair's report on the Upper Bann constituency, many of his PTCs saw the top of his head chopped off. Looks like he still films in 4:3 and his reports are cut into 16:9 for broadcast. Is this regular?

No. I would guess he shoots in 16:9, the same as everyone else. There has been a problem with most pre-recorded material on BBC Newsline for the past 3 weeks or so. Reports and pre-recorded weather appear to be stretched with the top of the picture being chopped off.

Better late than never, I guess.
