No-one is sponsoring Granada weather, bit like early 1995 after Legal & General stopped their advertising.

It just shows the generic weather slide.

Same with Border Weather at the moment.

Definitely. Laura.. the babe of BBC weather Very Happy

It'd be nice to see Laura be given a more prominent role, now I think of it. She seems to appear on the One and NC quite a lot, but seeing her more on the other BBC 1 bulletins or Breakfast might be nice.

Meanwhile I don't see that much of Darren Bett on BBC 1 bulletins these days - anyone know why? There was a point where Darren was constantly on after the Ten, yet the other day was the first I'd seen him at all in quite a while!

It was the same with Susan Powell, she was away from the News at 5 and 6 for ages and was stuck on nights and weekends - back now though

Darren Bett (and John Hammond) have been doing a lot of Five Live shifts whilst Tori Lacey is on maternity leave.

On a different note I saw an article in The Times today (http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and_radio/article6991064.ece) suggesting the Met Office might be about to lose its BBC forecasting contract to Metra, who currently provide the graphics. What this would mean for the current BBC weather forecasters (who are employed by the Met Office aren't they?) I don't know, and whether anything comes of it at all remains to be seen I guess.

Well I can't speak to the accuracy (or not) of Met Office forecasts - but I'm not overly impressed with the idea of giving the contract to the company who pitched the idea of viewing Britain from such a stupidly oblique angle.

At the risk of retreading old ground, the current view is *not* "how Britain appears when viewed from space" - as was said at the introduction of the new graphics, as this picture from NASA plainly shows.

Its a disgrace that this wasn't put right.

NASA? Last time I saw this pic a few days ago, it was credited to the University of Dundee. Not sure how, but well done to them!
