Grand Slam is a cult comedy made by BBC Wales in the late seventies(IIRC, possibly 1978) about a group of Welsh rugby supporters that go to Paris on a rugby trip. It starred Windsor Davies, Hugh Griffith, Dewi "Pws" Morris and Sion Probert.

Despite being full of Welsh stereotypes, the programme was extremly popular, but following its original transmission, it was rarely shown with just the odd repeat here and there, however within the last few years its enjoyed a bit of a revival with it being sold on video, and it was recently shown on 2W.

Maldwyn was the character played by Sion Probert

Obviously Lucy is off recouperating after doing the Cardiff Maraton yesterday of which they didnt show any footage of her on the Sunday bulletin when they had a report on it!

And also Jon has probably been given a few days off to recover from the Election coverage last Thursday! I wonder if he had a strop like Huw Edwards did on the BBC?

Out of interest, did Granada broadcast any Welsh party political broadcasts at 6.25pm (i.e. the same ones as HTV/BBC Wales) following Granada Reports or did they just stick with English regional ones. Also did the election adverts to get people to vote get transmitted on Granada? Somehow, I think I can pobably answer that one myself, it's not rocket science is it Wink

Yes, as you assume -- Granada carried the English local PEBs, only serving their England zone. They're quite happy to relinquish their Welsh obligations and short change the residents of NE Wales when it comes to something that requires a bit of effort, like covering the elections. Perhaps they just 'assume' HTV will take care of it [which of course they do], but as you say most Northeasterners don't watch HTV.
Once more they'd be forgiven for thinking they don't exist..

Justina seems to be designated I'm A Celebrity reporter, of course covering Sian's eviction last night, and indeed that she may be getting £25 000 for her troubles. Not completely for charity then.. I always said I didn't expect her to do well, just didn't think she'd come across well. Confused

I quite like Jonathan's signing for illustrating the story for deaf people ~

No mention of Lucy's run yesterday in Cardiff, though Catharine unusually did a sport report.

Can't be too long till we start getting the Pollen Count again.. It was very orange last year, wonder if we'll see a change in style. All the GMG and the Carlton regions had similar graphics to each other.

Sian LLoyd doesnt look bad for 44! She has gone UP in my estimation since seeing her on IACGMOOH! Im sure this will lead to many more spreads in Wales On Sunday newspaper!

Personally i think the Pollen Count was a waste of space and hope it doesnt return this year!

I agree Sian Lloyds looks great for 44.

I noticed Catharine Evan-Williams did a report on Swansea City F.C tonight. I wonder why no mention of Lucy? If James on the weather hadnt mentioned it on Friday then I doubt we would know about it at all.

Ruth Wignall is on the late news

Lucy has started presenting the Breakfast show on Red Dragon, now called 'Jason and Friends'. Emma H has gone to London to co-present the Captial Gold Breakfast show. Dunno what the show was like as I don't listen to Red Dragon at that time of day, but if its like the new name for the show it'll probably be best described as 'naff'.
