Hmm, will the SPL be in the High Court on Monday looking to put the company into recievership or liquidation, I wonder...

It will be interesting to see what happens. It would be a pity to see Setanta go, it's the only place (other than S4C, which isn't on cable in Ireland, other than a few isolated areas in the south east) which covers the Magners League and Setanta Ireland is part of the basic pack on cable here. It also covers 3pm Premier League games, which obviously can't be covered by Sky Sports.

It really wouldn't surprise me if ESPN steps in to buy setanta and to honour ALL agreements (didn't ESPN but a bid in for the EPL and lost out to Setanta) as I know that desperately want to have EPL in the UK and Eire as part of their portfolio - classic EPL matches rate very highly on Classic ESPN!

Plus it extends thier global dominance of major sports coverage as well!!!

The SPL have opted to pay the £3m fee to the clubs themselves for now and continue discussions with Setanta, so they must see their being some deal on the table.

I suspect too even a reduced fee from Setanta is more in the SPL's interests than Setanta going bust and then probably getting a much lower fee from Sky.

Good to hear Soul Limbo back on BBC screens.

BBC using host broadcaster (ESPN Star) pictures/graphics for their Twenty20 coverage. And it was indeed produced by Sunset+Vine.

Commentators were David Lloyd and Wasim Akram - also part of the ESPN commentary team, so presumably - as was seen at the World Cup a few years back - they're using the international feed commentary team. Not sure if Sky are doing the same for the live coverage - Lloyd is certainly a Sky regular.

For the non-match graphics, they're using a very attractive black/white/yellow version of the standard package.

And Jonathan Agnew was used for analysis. So presumably they'll be using a TMS commentator of some description for the duration.

And it seems as if Rishi Persad will be presenting tonight - strangely absent from the Derby coverage.
EDIT: sorry, Persad is at the Derby, just hadn't noticed him much this afternoon!

Speaking of racing - looks as if Angus Loughran has left the BBC and has been replaced by John Parrott as betting reporter. Dan Walker also playing a pretty prominent role this afternoon - perhaps to save Clare Balding's voice a little.

Mark 'Chappers' Chapman making his BBC Sport debut presenting Match of the Day Live tonight. Good choice.... probably a one off, but who knows, he may be the presenter of the BBC's Football League highlights programme??

Statto left a while back, I think it was something to do with this - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7243608.stm

John Parrott's not replaced him, he's been involved in the big races for a while doing colour. The new bookie is Gary Wiltshire.

French Open finished early - Federer wrapped it up in straight sets - so after a bit of Sue Barker and Andrew Castle studio chat, they handed back 1h20m to Pres! BBC Two filled with those old stand-bys Flog It and... you'll never guess... Coast.

Chappers has done C5 coverage before sitting in for Colin Murray as I recall. What was going on with the graphics on the match? Were they in that style because it was a BBC3 job or was that what a host broadcaster had supplied?

Host Broadcaster.... who incidentally had to change IRE to NIR at half time.

He presented Five's Football Italiano programme a couple in the 2007/2008 season IIRC.

Don't know if it's the same style as the cricket graphics, but a nice new variation of the BBC Sport graphics on the tennis today, with a slightly different animation and a bit more of a gradient.

And after moving the score graphic to the bottom left earlier in the year, they've now reduced it to a more reasonable size.

You are right in saying they have been tweaked, only to make them more complete, and smooth though. Heres how they animate, hard to show in images, but you can see they are more sophisticated in animation.

And if TV Forum was a sport? Here's the re-coloured Tennis scoreboard:

I have to say, the current BBC Sport on air branding is superb, really liking their innovation at the moment.
