Well, kind of smiling.

Round the regions I noticed only Border and Channel still maintain a kids birthday cards slot, with only Channel doing it 6 days a week -- Nitty & Gritty is only on on Sundays now. TSW's went, Anglia's did recently, I haven't seen Barney & Busker on UTV for a while either [though it may well still be there]. Has HTV ever had birthday cards? If so, I can't remember them.

I can't believe that this is The Wales Thread, and yet the Welsh Baftas, which took place this weekend, have not been mentioned!

There are some pictures in Wales On Sunday of Lucy Cohen (in a horrible dress) with her latest boyfriend Rhodri Owen.

Steve Jones was also there. (I didn't know this, but apparently he also presents 99 things to do before you're 30).

I didnt post about it cos I didnt know anything about it and I dont read Wales on Sunday - I have the news of the world.

Well I didnt know Rhodri Owen was Lucy's boyfriend? I assumed she was married? What do you mean her "latest" boyfriend? I think Rhodri and Lucy are both nice looking so would make a nice couple!

Yeah, a quick listings search shows that Channel does Puffin's Pla(i)ce 7 days a week still; before CITV Mon-Fri, and before the evening news at weekends. UTV's Busker and Barney are just weekdays now.

OOO - even Whataday is now having a dig at the total lack of ability at welsh forum members for not spotting items that are relevant to this thread!

Well done Whataday for speaking your mind!
TvDragon and Jez seem to have total control over this thread and relevant points ARE brought up but all they are EVER interested in is discussing who will be the weekend news presenter!

Also it was quite daming news that the station was called HTV 1 WALES on air!

You're complaining about the lack of these things being mentioned in this thread, yet you're just as capable of posting about them in the thread yourself.

Maybe they don't interest TVDragon and Jez, or maybe they didn't spot the offending continuity - you can't expect just two people to cover every single Wales related TV thing.

Ive just about had enough of you and the other people on here who moan all the time. I much prefer chatting to TV Dragon and Jamez than any of you. So dont you dare start slagging us off

Im not keen on BBC Wales but TV Dragon and others on here are so I accept it and let them chat about it - and I like HTV News so if we want to chat about who reads the news we can.

And so what if no-one apart from Whataday read the Wales on Sunday newspaper and knew about the Welsh Baftas- thats what this thread is for - sharing info about Welsh TV.

Thanks Mr. Stanley - someone else who found the continuity "lapse" OFFENSIVE - and I thought it was just ME over-reacting.........
p.s. I vote to have swanseasound sent to Coventry....er.....what do they watch in Coventry? - is it Border..........ponder......oh no, that's it, I've cracked - I've started to use swanseasound's catchphrase!!!!!! Rolling Eyes

HTV in the late 70's/early 80's had a birthday greetings slot called Ask Oscar. I can remember it on HTV, however I'm not sure if it was on HTV General or HTV West. My only memory of it was the late Annie St John presented it ( Annie was a former HTV West annuoncer). However as someone who did not live in an HTV overlap area, it must have been part of the HTV General service which was a mixture of HTV Wales (not the Cymru part as that was on a different "switch") and HTV West. By the way Oscar was an owl.

Also some people on this thread are surprised that Lucy Cohen and Rhodri are an item. I don't want to be a party pooper but this news has been "news" for quite a while Laughing

Well TBH I dont know if any of the HTV presenters are married or what - I only know Jonathan is because it was mentioned a while ago and of course Ruth and Cathatine changed their names so I assumed they had both got married.

But no I didnt know about Lucy Cohen - I think Lucy is a very nice person so I hope she is happy

It's criminal there isn't an Arfon ident really -- when you consider the man's history, and yet there are people that have been in Emmerdale for 5 minutes or something and have their own ident.
Steve Jones/Sarra Elgan wouldn't go amiss, and maybe, ummm, Becky Wicks?
Yes, I agree. A.H.D. deserves an ident. He was the face of HTV Cymru/Wales for many years, especially late seventies right through to the early nineties. Interesting story from Arfon, he was once quoted as saying that when he first met his wife, she did not know who he was because she used to watch HTV West and not HTV Wales eventhough she lived in Cardiff Exclamation

Becky Wicks. Nice thought as an ident, but a shame most of her listerners watch Granada (and then Central as an alternative)

Had a reply from ITV the other day who basically said that Granada was to stay on Sky channel 103 and HTV was to remain on channel 964. Therefore in the eyes of ITV, Wrexham and north east Wales are, in tv terms, part of north west England. I cant believe HTV are prepared to let a major part of their population slip away, because, apparantley, its the ITV companies that tell/allocate Sky the postcodes, which therefore decide which ITV company serves that particular area
