Another example of why their needs to be a bit of quality control on Freeview then! Anyone know what Mux it's on?

SuperCasino is on the SDN MUX at LCN 48, apparently it's going to be timesharing with Quest.

Don't think it is (the only place I've seen this is mentioned is over at Digital spy who are know for jumping to conclusions). The EPG for super casino is 24 hours. It's live from 6pm to 4am and automated the rest of the time.

I agree, there seems to be half a dozen channels that serve no real purpose other than to fill space. I'd rather have two decent channels rather than six sacks of sh*te

Or improved picture quality on existing channels rather than six sacks of sh*te!

Certainly hope it's not sharing with Quest during primetime anyway - little point in Discovery launching it if it's only going to air during the day.

Pricedrop seems to have gone now which is presumably the stream Quest will use, so perhaps Top Up TV have cut back their own services once again and Supercasino is using space from there.

It's the sort of channel though which makes you realise ITV Play wasn't actually that bad. I don't really get how in just over a year we've gone from the advertising of gambling being banned on TV to having full blown casino channels.

Absolutely some of them are atrocious now, makes analogue look superb in some cases Laughing

I wholeheartedly agree. Thankfully that's why most TV sets now come with remote controls so that viewers can change the channel should they stumble upon something they don't like.

You seem to be ignoring the central issues here, that Freeview has limited bandwidth compared to other digital platforms, and yet it's central to encouraging viewers to switch from analogue to digital ahead of DSO. Filling it up with trashy gaming and shopping channels does little to enhance the appeal of DTT.

As a Sky viewer, I've absolutely no problem in Sky's EPG being full of gaming, shopping or soft porn channels as there's already a huge selection of other channels. This isn't so true of Freeview.

But who's going to decide what's worth keeping and what isn't? Something you like might be terrible to another person.

Gambling and advertising it hasn't been banned on TV. The bottom fell out of the market and everybody realised the Quiz TV genre was a complete rip-off once it turned out the channels or their contractors were employing dubious tactics to turn them into unfair competitions. As it turned out once PremiumGate blew up, channels were closing left right and centre.

As far as advertising was concerned, it was a step in the other direction to allow it on broadcast media - they couldn't previously. The onus is on the advertisers not to target it in inappropriate places, such as under 18's. There's a big list of don't do this, that and the other that applies.

Anyway, SuperCasino and co seems to have taken off - a) it's free to join and free (SuperCasino anyway) to play. b) It looks fairer, but at the end of the day its still gambling and if you're playing for free, all you've lost is your personal time. I'd take it over ITV Play anyday.
