I find it odd that we have had news from most of the other regions about who is going, but have heard nothing about Meridian yet? Surely though they could never get rid of Fred... even though I guess he must be on the biggest salary??


Seeing as they stuck with Bob Warman at Central, you'd think they would stick with Fred. It's so hard to predict, I'd imagine they'd keep Debbie too. Then again would Fred Dinenage really want to up his workload? Perhaps Sangeeta and Ian... Laughing


I really hope Fred stays & Debbie too for that matter... I really can't imagine Ian & Sangeeta being taken on to do the new huge region news somehow & I really really hope that they do not give the gig to Wesley Shocked I would definately switch off then... Laughing Mind you Hannah is easy on the eye, so I could put up with her... Wink


And whats wrong with Wesley Smith?? He has been main anchor within itv regional news for 20 years in january plus a lovely friendly man who loves his job and does it extremely well.


Having watched Wesley on Thames Valley news I don't rate him at all i'm afraid... Also I understand many viewers who used to receive the Meridian West news didn't take to him at all. He just doesn't seem to have much of a personality & has zero charisma in my opinion, but I appreciate that old Central South viewers are among his "fans"...


He doesn't seem quite as good as in the old days on CNS, he's rather stilted in the company of revved up glamour girl Lucy Kite who is stealing the show . Razz

No, Wesley's a bit wet for my tastes compared to some other male anchors on ITV.

I don't mind Hannah Shellswell being wet though. Cool Smile

Yep wet is the word or weedy for Wesley yet whatshename seems to like him or just very good acting as most women are good at Wink

I just hope Gemma Humprhies stays on, every day will be dull and overcast without her beautiful smiles

'Fraid not - regular safety inspections taking place in the main studio! Nowadays this is just about the only time Studio-B at Southampton is ever used (it's main on-air days were for presentation of the original Oxford sub-opt before it moved to Oxford itself).

Hannah doesnt act - she genuinely likes Wes! Afterall they have worked together for 9 years so have built up a great working rapour. Long may it continue! Mary cant even get his name right calling him West! Whats all that about?!

How do you know this ?

I wonder, if they keep all main presenters will they swap them around on the one main Meridian Tonight or use them as reporters ?
