I just don't get TMC. I thought that it was simply a BBC type channel for Monaco that also focused on the surrounding area of France but I keep on seeing these videos of TMC in Italian. Was their Italian service suspended or something because from Wikipedia (I know, I know) there is nothing mentioned of it, and the TMC website is only in French. I wonder if RAI had a monopoly in Italy so TMC set up a service in the hope of attracting revenue from Italian advertisers? Anyone know?
During the era of the RAI monopoly many foreign broadcasters aimed at reaching the Italian audiences. Swiss TSI, TMC, which later became Italian-owned, and the Slovenian-based Telecapodistria were the main ones -the latter was the first Italian language tv broadcasting in colours. Foreign channels were particularly loved in Italy because their programmes could avoid the censorship imposed on RAI, thus broadcasting saop-operas with mild sexual references and other "hardcore" content. Even the Vatican Radio was very fashionable during the 60s and the 70s, as it used to broadcast pop music from singers that were banned from RAI going as far as broadcasting Fabrizio De Andre's song "God is dead".

La 7 took over TMC's frequencies and some of its operations, but it's, for all intents and purposes, a different company AFAIK.
Yep - I think it inherited/took over their production studio centre opposite RAI? Certainly their studios were originally designed for music production - not sport, news and current affairs!

Didn't TMC in Italy become La 7? (Which at one time was owned by the same people as MTV Italia ISTR?)

Note the similarity between this news intro...
...and the more elegant intro formerly used by ProSieben in Germany:

Australia's National Nine News uses a somewhat similar idea.

Is that HD (720p/1080i) or ED/SD (576p/576i)?
(And I know in Aus 576p is technically classified as HD - but it isn't really HD...)

Thanks for that link, I've never seen that version of the 13 Heures titles, especially as they immediately cut into the picutre of Patrick Roy, which from what I've seen on the other titles, it's not the norm.
