Not long to go until the new iPlayer Beta gets it's final release then.

Why are there two sites?
We've improved BBC iPlayer, but before we release it fully, we thought we'd give you time to get used to it and comment on the messageboard.

The original site is still here, but you can check out the beta version and the new help. We hope you enjoy it, and the old site will go at the start of July .

It seems to have happened already! No sign of the old site now.

Indeed. Smile

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer says Beta though.

It's a shame they've launched on the main address when the radio streaming still uses cruddy Windows Media. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/playlive/bbc_radio_one

On the Proms page, I love how they've decided to make the background as long as possible, realised the file is massive so turned the quality of the JPEG down to about 20%.

You're right. Surprising how simple a solution there is.

I still don't understand why they're finding time to fart around with these minor sites while most TV and radio sites are still old style.

Because as they launch new programmes and/or do major updates to pages, it makes sense to do it in the new style to save work later.
