Grandstand was dropped for one reason alone- a lack of sporting rights. The BBC would have (and indeed did) get criticism, from people such as yourself, for sticking on one event on a Saturday often as lowly as bowls under the "Grandstand" banner.

It's the like of bowls that needs the Grandstand banner though, the bigger sports events such as football can work as standalone events. Grandstand is good a binder the sports which aren't big enough to warrant their own brand on the BBC such as Match of The Day.

Exactly Wells. No way I'd watch a programme called "Bowls", but I would tune into Grandstand featuring Bowls, not watching the bowls themselves, but looking out for any sports news prior to the coverage, especially when there is a major story around.

I wonder how this will work on Freeview. We already know that BBC Parliament is being removed from DTT for the Olympics coverage on BBCi.

I think what we've got now is probably it - an integrated text service which incorporates the extra content on 301/302. I don't think they'll be non-stop 24/7 video content from the autumn, but I imagine the amount of sport offered via BBCi will increase (with F1 and a focus on Olympic events in the run up to 2012), plus they're starting to replay events rather than just cover them live too.

I hope it's not all this enhanced radio commentary stuff - I don't really know how they get away with that. The cricket is one ting and you can kind of understand that, but showing enhanced commentary of a game being shown on ITV1 at the same time seems quite questionable rights wise - and also a questionable use of space as surely anyone interested is going to watch it on ITV, rather than watch a text service on BBCi.

The Weakest Link has now been moved to BBC2, which is odd as I'm sure Sue suggested they would be going back to the BBC2 game, on BBC2 after the news

I notice they've got new titles and a new set this year following the same ones being in use for a few years, what do people think? The theme music has been reduced though which is bad

Murray going out on BBC One now.

Although Today at Wimbledon was scheduled until 9pm on BBC Two, they've now gone to a filler Rick Stein programme. Couldn't Two have shown the scheduled BBC One programme ?

Interesting to see what happens with the heavily-promoted Criminal Justice, scheduled at 9pm as it is possible that the Murray game will continue until 9.30pm. Surprised they didn't just continue on BBC Two.

I'm glad they've switched it to BBC One, although it did start off there! What an amazing match! Wink

I can't imagine many people are complaining about the disruption to the schedule here. Wink

This is just such an entertaining game and brave performance from the Celt, whatever the outcome.

VERY entertaining though!

It's ridiculous moving it to BBC1 at such a late stage, it's like showing a football match on BBC2 and moving it to BBC1 for the penalty shoot out!

It also means the news will be late

They're not doing...it's staying on BBC One.

Weren't you the one complaining about Olympics remaining on BBC One post-DSO?

I was waiting for that one Juggy, but I expected it from Gav rather than you. Olympics are a 2 week disruption, not a one off event like this. There is a massive difference.
