CNN International broadcasts in 4:3.
CNN Domestic, in the US, now has a CNN HD feed - though AIUI only some of the CNN NY studios are 16:9 HD currently, with Washington having the ability to provide a 16:9 HD feed for down-the-lines with NY, but not a full 16:9 HD studio show. Atlanta studios still 4:3 SD currently.
I believe they aim for 4:3-safe 16:9 framing when shooting in HD - though having seen some of their HD stuff on CNNi (overnight primaries) - this doesn't always work.
(I'm getting a bit fed up of their "wander around the studio a bit with wobbly cameras, poorly used steadicams and oh, I don't know, let's cross the line a bit" style...)

Don seems to be a bit awkward presenting the "news". I am sure he will be more comfortable with more appearances.
