I was watching Final Score today and the BBC Sport logo and clock gave me an idea. The BBC Sport style astons are also perfectly suited for news. I don't have much time to post these so here goes!

The globe spins.

Arrow Ident
All of the small squares are news reports, appearing first, then zooming out to reveal the globe which is spinning.

Arrow Story title - on-screen from introduction in studio and through the whole report, including interviews etc.

Arrow White bar and title appear (including red line on the left), and the red part with the name extends from the red line.

Lovin these anyway. But then as you mentioned they're based on BBC Sport. If N24 did that first I'm sure everyone would be happy.

really good. For some reason BC Sports graphics always seem to be better than BBC News - why can't BBC News sort themselves out!

Wow. These are really simple and yet basic. I like these to the bbc sports as you have used the same colour palette with whites, greys and blacks merging the flat basis of the logo and the multi layered, toned and textured background. Its a simple idea which could work effectively if the news team would follow suit. I also noticed the clock on final score, is that always there as i've never noticed it before? What font did u use for these benjy as it resembles the real font?! What would u do to the studio, would it be a reworking of the current bbc one set for news 24? or would it be more open spaced like the current bbc world set?

I'd like to see bbc news as a whole to take on this design aspect based on bbc sport as the main channels are all linked with boxes and now news and sport can be linked in this way. Im really impressed by these and would prefer to see a redevelopment like this rather than based on the 2d ovals on the screens in the current bbc one newsroom. Hope to see a wider development of these, how do you manage to mock something up so quick and so bloody good, i have many ideas, but not the software. Anyway keep up the good work, u really should get the bbc to look at these, or i will using my name, they are too good to be missed!

Those are really lovely and if BBC News had any sense they would have taken inspiration from BBC Sport and commissionned their look. However I doubt anyone ot BBC News has even thought of the idea.

Quite simply: striking. I was thinking of doing something similar myself a short while ago, but none of my efforts would have come close to this. Excellent concepts, magnificent consistency of design, and extremely well thoughout. Keep up the good work.

I too was messing around with this format yesterday, but Benji's are much better. What I do like about the BBC Sport design though is the programme logos, which incorporate not only the BBC Sport branding and the programme name, but also an individual logo, which is something also require for news programmes, especially ITV News - ideally their titles should include the ITV News logo, the programme title and the programme logo - Big Ben
