Well, I've had it with YouTube.

In the space of three days, I've had 5 private messages all requesting music. I'm a busy person, I had to say no to all of them.

There have been 3 public comments along the lines of 'Haha I just ripped the music - if you search for ..... on Google you can rip the music as well'.

And to top it all, I've just had another public comment by a guy saying he's ripped the entire video, "cleaned it up", and re-posted it on his own channel. Cheeky little b**tard Evil or Very Mad It was a montage that I'd spent at least 6 hours putting together myself, and he's re-posted it in completely the wrong aspect ratio now as well Rolling Eyes

Granted, I have recorded a few bits off YouTube, but NEVER would I be so down right rude as to let the owners know, and I would never steal an entire video either.

So that's it, I'm deleting the whole lot. Rolling Eyes

So? I doubt replying to 5 messages with 'no' takes up that much time. If you really were that busy you could have just ignored them.

So? People want to download music. Do you own the music in your videos? Why would that bother you?

A montage of what? I'm guessing it was a montage of things that other people had spent at least 6 hours making. It does seem odd that people would reupload something that they got from YouTube but why get worked up about it?

I uploaded this...
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Lg_x6aIQ9uQ

and some clown used a poor quality mobile to record 'my' video from the YouTube page and reupload it - twice...
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OK5Ru9OmQ6s
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=m6CFZN-fNek

I wouldn't mind knowing their thought process, why someone would think that was a worthwhile thing to do, but I never considered deleting all 'my' YouTube videos because of it. If I did, there would be no decent quality version of that Bullseye clip which would make YouTube a slighty (0.0001%) worse place.

What is so rude about it? I couldn't care less if people want to download 'my' videos either for offline viewing or re-editing. If they did reupload it, I would prefer to know about it too.

Thats a bit selfish. I guess if we want to see the montage that you spent over 6 hours creating then we will just have to view it on someone elses account at the wrong ratio without any credit for your hard work. Good job they reuploaded it, right?

Edit :
I take it this is the video you are complaining about?
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RHowIrzq_JM

and this is the copied version?

I'm afraid you both end up looking stupid, Marksidle for uploading a video that is already on YouTube and you because of your 'I'm better than you because I know the composer' rant.

Hehe, that is madness. What was he thinking?

I can understand someone reposting a clip if they thought it was going to be taken offline soon... but then they'd at least download it and re-upload it

It bothers me because all of the actual music is out there somewhere, but instead of going to all the effort of finding it like I did, these scroungers simply turn up on YouTube and do a smash and grab Rolling Eyes YouTube is not a place for downloading music.

The request forum here is different, because you know that most of the time when you upload a track, people will bear it in mind and help you out when you need something yourself later on down the line. I'm against the 'trading game' completely, though, and I'll willingly share most of the tracks I've got, unless there is a very good for not doing so (and provided the requester says 'please' and 'thank you' - otherwise they get nowt).

If you look at some of the other videos he's blatantly stolen, the description says - "15 anniversary credits with music cleaned up a bit from original source" - doesn't even state who the original source is! Rolling Eyes

I've made most of videos private until I decide what to do. This sort of carry on just makes me wonder why I bother being generous and helpful to people at all.

Well its not really a place for uploading music if you don't own the copyright and it doesn't sound like you do but that's another matter.

Are you the same Chie who's against trading in the Requests forum?

How has this helped your cause? Marksidle is now the only user on YouTube to have that Eastenders montage available to all. Whereas before it was obvious that he copied you (due to the upload dates), now it looks like he has made or sourced the montage himself.

I note that someone has requested Julia's Theme in the Requests forum. If they did a search on YouTube, they would find Marksidle's video and Marksidle comes out the hero with you getting no credit at all - the very thing you were craving.

You are quite right.

Mark has deleted all of his copied videos, and I've made mine public again. So that is the end of the matter.
