For anyone who hasn't worked it out yet, the jingle sounded similar to the soundtrack used on the BBC2 'English' ident

Just to point out...During last night's Mitchell & Webb Look , during the sketch with the realistic film director, the 'clip' of the film set in the 1930's includes a very familiar choice of background sound right at the start.
Anyone who is well-acquainted with very early 90's BBC2 themed idents may recognize the connection, however small!

Well done Jonny; I knew someone would figure it out in the end!

I can understand that reaction. Mitchell & Webb Look is arguably the strongest comedy on the BBC at the moment - and seems to be the only thing giving the Thursdays strand any real worth at present. Without it, I'd say the whole slot would be quite underwhelming.

BBC 2's thursdays are funny has gone downhill a bit, mitchell and web is good, but is empty supposed to be funny, its cronic to watch, and catherine tate repeats.

Well Mitchell and Webb is the only one I watch, and probably the only thing I've watched in the BBC2 comedy slot since the last series too, though I did watch Gavin and Stacey on BBC2 as I missed it's first outing on BBC3.
Talking of which, quite unusually BBC2 are rescreening the whole series of Gavin and Stacey on Saturday night. I know it's not uncommon for digital channels to show a series back to back, but I'd have thought if the BBC were doing it it be on BBC3 rather than BBC2. Second series can't be far off now then.

BBC2 did it for Heroes as well, as I recall (well, a several-hour block, not the whole series, obviously
). That's the only other example I can think of though.

The
White
season trails and promos have been receiving a fair bit of airtime; looks like it's really being pushed.
The promo with the bloke's face covered in black writing has 2 different lengths, there was a short teaser early on, plus I've seen a preview of all the programmes in the season with comments from cast members, and a trail for the first docu, Last Orders , with a black endboard.
Considering a B&W 'inky' scheme has pervaded all pres related to this season so far, I wouldn't be surprised if it has its own ident too - although that's definitely not known as yet.
