From what I can see they could be rather good, especially the opening ident. Although I would prefer the Sky News logo with the test 'AUSTRALIA' in a block underneath the width of the Sky News logo. Well Done! Very Happy

Well, I've been visiting TV Forum for a couple of years at least, and with this post I've finally decided to register. I'm from Australia as well, and when I saw the chance to redesign Sky News Australia, I couldn't resist. I'd worked on a set a while back, and decided now would be a good time to release them to the world. Wink

Thanks to TV Forum Mock Resources for the original SN logo.

I hope it's to your liking. Very Happy If it is, I have astons and other on screen graphics and stuff which I can upload as well. That is, if you want me to.................... *eagerly awaits response*

OK, well, here's a selection from the set...

1. The countdown/menu sequence
It's approaching midday (13 seconds to go), and a look at the schedule for the early afternoon on Sky News Australia. Coming up next, Sky News On the Hour. The ticker has frozen at the moment though.

2. The ident
The final ten seconds are made up of a montage of different places across Australia and around the globe. It finishes with this frame (and yes, you've already seen it before).

3. The story
Well, it seems now that things are starting to settle down in the Iraqi capital, some are actually catching up on a bit of sleep.
http://www.hightown.com/~nford/skynews1.jpg

4. Breaking News!
The Former Iraqi Information Minister, who established what will become the next wave in Public Relations, has been declared missing by some military honcho. *GASP!* The ticker is overlaid with another ticker, this one in red, specifically for the breaking news.
http://www.hightown.com/~nford/skynews2.jpg

5. File Footage
Let's just take a look at some of the great work of Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf, shall we?
http://www.hightown.com/~nford/skynews3.jpg

6. Headlines every 15 minutes
Time to catch up on the latest. The ticker is overlaid with a blue bar, and the headline.
http://www.hightown.com/~nford/skynews4.jpg

7. Business News
Apparently there are other things going on in the world, as we take a look at the financial markets. What's that? Another ticker? (Guess what, there's also one for weather - but you don't get to see it in this round of mocks! Wink )
http://www.hightown.com/~nford/skynews5.jpg

8. Poll Results
Well, Sky News Australia doesn't actually have Active (it doesn't have widescreen either) - but we can hope. Here's the results to today's very important question.
http://www.hightown.com/~nford/skynews8.jpg

9. Phone Interview
We get in contact with Sky's correspondent in Nicaragua - what? They don't have a South American correspondent? Then who is this guy?
http://www.hightown.com/~nford/skynews6.jpg

10. Two-Way Interview
So he was useless, but what about if we cross over to Baghdad. Well, at least it's not RAF Fairford just to see those bombers in their hangar... AGAIN.

So, what do you think? Smile

Very similar to Sky News UK in terms of graphics. The major difference is the astons which don't have that red thing at all, and the text is centred. Since the start of the year, I've noticed they've stopped using Frutiger as well, and are just using something rather plain like Arial (although I really don't know).

There are some small screen caps at aus.tv.history. Just click the Sky News link under Current In-Depth Stories.

Now the set................ Ugh. I'm fairly certain that they've been using the same set since launch in the mid-90's. It was probably dated back then too, and it certainly is now!
