With BBC News changing soon (allegedly), isn't it time News 24 had a facelift as well? I figure since "people" idents seem to be popular these days with the BBC, why not a News 24 version of this? I took some images from the regional idents, and "News-24-ified" them a bit.

These are quick -- just a sketch to see if it's a viable option ... I'm not convinced, really.

I'm not too sure about them. I think they'd look a lot better if it didn't just have the News 24 box in the end shot, but had the words News 24 in the middle instead.

OooOohhh!!! Mr Tom!! Wow! Those are excellent! ONE criticism though, I hate the red news 24 box. Perhaps you should do what Chris says and just write BBC News 24 across it in white text. Other than that, though, Surprised nice!

Very good Tom

I think the N24 box goes well with that design is one of the few examples of where the box actually fits in with titles. My only criticism is its hard to know what to emcompass into the ident that will be a good representation of the uk in the short space of an ident. I think it would have worked well for UK Today is it was still here today.

Wolverhampton on BBC News 24?
Nah, that'll never happen...

I think this idea is terrific. Perhaps in a future rebrand the opening ident would be extended, rather than the 8" currently used across all bulletins. People are a key element used by the BBC and aside from the orange these could work.

Or simply gather all the different shots from all the regions together make them look slightly different (the orange tinge) and repackage them into different titles - no reason if you were to do this idea you couldn't have eight or so different title sequences surely... You could even add place names as in the current titles but more obvious than the regional titles to show you're covering the whole of the UK.

The only problem with this idea is the lack of the "global" aspect that BBC News has always used. Perhaps it may be an idea to use shots from all around the world (including places which feature frequently in the news).

Yeah - the balance is always going to be the problem with this idea though..... "I want to see my little town in the pictures"

It's okay, but I think there's a bit too much orange
