Not the same as having lovely Ruth though..

BUT. To celebrate the lovely people [!] at Lycos putting their site back up, have a couple of caps of Ruth and Catherine. For no apparent reason other than it's the weekend and I'm very very glad. Razz

Nice pic of Ruth - a bit strange seeing her on the news after all she is a weather presenter now!

And god what does Catharine look like in that pic Laughing

And yes I would actually prefer Ruth to Ms shoulder pads - but we could do a lot worse for a weekend presenter than Carole Green

Ah, but Ruth was newsreader first, before the days of isobars and 3-day outlooks. Perhaps it's like riding a bike. I still say I like the idea of having an HTV face that crosses over weather and news sometimes. A uniquely thing in regional ITV, I'm pretty sure -- all other weather presenters don't seem to ever read news.

Catherine "9 surnames" Douglas-Zeta-Williams looks perfectly radiant with her long flowing hair there. With her human interest story on Thursday she let it all hang loose and a tiny smile crept over her face -- before it was whipped away suddenly by the sour fairies.

I thought Ms Shoulder Pads would be Nicola Heywood-Thomas, but thinking about it, you're right about Carole. I can feel some visual evidence coming on in a later post... Cool

I watch Wales Today on the weekend even less often than I watch HTV News, and do you know I couldn't tell you who presents it on a weekend -- is it Jason? Sean? Claire?

Yes thats very true about Ruth - she did indeed read the news - although I cant remember which bulletins she did - was she on GMTV along with Sally before sadsack arrived? I know she did the Ferret for years and Grass Roots too.

3 day outlook - is that where they used to label the maps 1,2,3 - treating us like we can tell that Thursday comes after Wednesday LOL

The fact you think Sour Cath is "radiant" in that pic really alarms me!

And yes maybe you could do a pic of Carole to and we'll assess if she is acceptable to be a HTV News reader or if she is in the league of the other useless presenters we have on the weekend. And good on you, I always knew you preferred HTV News deep down in you heart! Afterall this thread has more about HTV on it! Very Happy

Catherine always looks radiant! Tut, isn't it obvious?

HTV used to patronise the weather viewers by labelling each day with a number, 1. 2. and 3. sometimes. Not revealing 2. until we had dealt with 1. -- and so on -- lest we become confused.

Then the air watch chart would come up, with Yest Tod Tom on it -- which take a while for you to realise what the hell that means.. Rolling Eyes

Carole Green isn't bad reading the news. I have some caps, but I'll try to put a new one up today instead. I think Ruth used to do late bulletins and stuff for the main news back in the day.

And I never said I preferred HTV to BBC Wales! Not at all. Doesn't work like that..
It's just that Wales Today is usually on earlier than HTV News on a Saturday and I'm often still asleep at 5pm on a Saturday! Apparently it's 1710 for the BBC and 1705 for HTV this afternoon, so we'll see how it goes.

Nah im only messing - I know you love your BBC News - cant see why myself - but it would be nice if u did like HTV more cos they ARE the best - I dont care if BBC have the award this year - HTV were robbed - How do I know they are crap ive I never watch them I hear you ask? Well I just DO!!!!!
Very Happy

Oh god I remember the air watch - it used to be the weather presenter as the voice over - Dillwyn or Lorna. In a few months time we'll start having that 10 second pollen count straight after the weather -m thats another thing we can add to Ruthie CV! I think all regions have the pollen count during summer dont they? But IIRC correctly in the late 90s-2001 the airwatch was on the HTV/Anglia and Meridian regions

Carole is OK - if she smiled a bit more she would be fine. She seems to report regularly for the 6pm programme so im suprised she is still on the rota for newsreading.

I'm sorry, but Catherine Evan Williams looks just like some old bint that would serve you in a newsagents on some council estate.

Pale and miserable.

Ruth looks rather strange in that picture - like a face lift op went badly wrong Wink

I wont argue with you there - I can imagine her serving in some newsagents - miserable sour Cath Laughing

Carole Green did the news and she wasnt too bad - she smiled a few times which was good - Juliet also did reports on both the Rugby and Football!

I don't really think Catherine is radiant. I'm the one who got snitched on for calling her a sour cow.

Sometimes I wonder if my irony might be better put with a smilie more often. [Wink ?]

Anyway I think Ruth looks tiny behind that desk, it seems to swamp her!

Well it's a relief you were only joking about Cath - I thought for one brief minute that you had a wee crush on her Very Happy Razz

And maybe if Ruth looks out of place behind that desk she should stick to reporting and weather focasting! Razz

I submit the motion that the "Wales Thread" be re-named the "TV Dragon and Jez" thread.............let's have a debate........oh but that would mean "other" people would have to contribute......

A lot of people look at this thread, but few post. There isn't a great deal to say at the moment -- even less now HTV is ITV1 Wales, there is nothing interesting to see or a pretty piece of presentation to notice or any quirk of regionality.. Far less to notice.

Anything I do see or think is interesting I put in here, there have been some of those in the last 3 months.

There is nothing written here that no-one else can't join in with. Most of my post count is made up in this thread, and I usually check in here in the weekdays. As does Jez, I assume. Others stop in from time to time, including yourself, but don't say anything. Again, perhaps it's lack of points to make -- a little nonsense instead doesn't seem to do any harm though.

Let's see, what was the highlight of today? Ummm, a clock on S4C? Wooo.

the main topic of conversation on here tends to be who read the HTV news during GMTV that morning, and to be perfectly honest , I don't think many people really care. Compare that to a clock on S4C and the clock does seem exciting! I only pop in now and again to see if anyway says anyhthing interesting but that doesn't happen much!
