The late news came from Studio 1 tonight with Audra. Obviously because they have an election results update at 11pm. Is this the first time it has come from the main studio?

UTV Live late bulletins came from the main studio until c. 1998 (at the same time they ditched daytime continuity) and were usually hosted by Kate, Lynda or Pamela.

UTV Live bulletins/Sport on Sunday used to come from the news studio up until 2003.

Good to see they have finally updated the sport CSO backdrop - did they use this on Saturday?

Yeah it was used yesterday Col. Not sure if that was the first time because I'm not usually in on Saturdays so I wouldn't really know. Noticed tonight though that the Sport on Sunday backdrop is still the same!

I didn't realise you had already said Saturday in your original message, Stevie.

I assume it was a cap from Sunday as it's Nigel Carr...

Is Nigel Carr a freelancer, because he is on BBC NI's coverage of the Schools' Cup Final?

He is a freelance broadcaster - and AFAIK he's also a full-time university lecturer at Queen's.

Nigel works full-time in the public sector, I work in the same company as him. I used to work in the same office as him.

Typical Paul reaction...

And must be a first for UTV's profits on the TV side to go down - what's left to axe?

How did BBC NI and UTV deal with yesterday's developments at Stormont?

Any extra coverage which messed around with the schedules? I reckon Newsline stuck out till 7.30pm and who knows, maybe UTV did something as well.
