Everyone seems to rant and rave about the 90s two idents but these didn't have dramatic music did they?

Rolling Eyes

Others have already stated that the 90's 2s had some of the most powerful and dramatic music you will have heard in an ident;

...But if you want a clear cut example, go and listen to Silk. How you could call that piece anything other than dramatic is beyond me.

Silk is the best of the set, starts off sounding like neon but the rather loud pipe sound (if you get what I mean) always made me jump, a haunting tune that unfortunately unless played at close down was never heard properly, only the bit that sounded like neon was mainly heard

And you can hear Silk's soundtrack in full (alongside the ident) thanks to some very nice YouTube user, who also has a lot of other full 1991-1997 BBC2 idents on his profile.

I would have liked it to be full, but it isn't.

That clip is :35 (which is awfully similar in length to a certain clip that was available on the TV Room...), whereas the full version is :55.

All 1991 originals were 55 sec; 1 minute if you include the starting clock.

Oh how I loved that ident! It is probably my favourite ever BBC2 ident and I remember being very upset when they dropped it in '99. Like nearly all of the 91-01 idents it is timeless, they still look so brilliant and so different to any other TV pres package.

Arse to these new 'uns, just rebadge the old ones.

It LOOKS great, no argument, but the "Neon" sound elements (which work well there, in time with the lights switching) undercut the whole thing to me in the mix..

I didn't realise they dropped Silk in 1999, I thought it lasted to 2001!! Shocked

Five of them: Silk, Copper Cut-out, Diary, Firecracker & Steam, all dramatic ones, a early clue to what they had coming up next in 2001 (no dramatic ones)

On the subject of the older idents - has it been mentioned before that "kebab" had it's theme released as library music recently?

Better still, just bring it all back, old logo and all. Boxes do not work, and nor does fancy lowercase lettering.
