I think its great how the ident shown always seems to fit in with the following programme. Examples include Zoetrope, just shown there, into 'Nation on Film' and Seascape was used into 'Nature's Calendar', which was analysing coastal areas. IMO that was the main problem with the yellow idents. Yes they had personality and yes they were funny but they were very limiting. The programme that followed would more than often not link to the ident that preceded it. So far, these new idents seem to fit in perfectly.

Cross-channel promo with the new BBC2 idents on the screen, followed by Mirror into Mythbusters at 19:00.

And Wales used their version of the BBC TWO 'now' squares menu -- but it is still in the yellow, so is now somewhat outdated.

This isn't a problem with the BBC One variant of course, as it is red which is still the signature colour.

That's what we've already been talking about...

Yes, the box did seem to have a problem with it - it looked a little skewed.

So, has 2W simply not got its own style of idents now then? It's just the usual BBC Two idents but with a different box! Confused It makes the "2W" brand seem almost pointless. Rolling Eyes

Clearly, as the digital (BBC 2W) weekday evening schedule differs from the analogue (BBC Two Wales) schedule, the "2W" brand clearly helps to differenciate. But, post-DSO, there really will be no point to the "2W" name bothering to exist. Given that the new 2W idents are now the same as normal BBC Two idents, then presumably they are indeed working towards dropping the "2W" brand, come DSO.

Well yes possibly, but it's very easy to look that far ahead, whilst there are still nearly three years of programming and service to deliver to all viewers -- not an inconsequential amount of time really.

Now that it is a weekday evening, it seems that there is an even fuller live dual service being offered -- with the 2W identity beginning at 6pm [with Wales on 2 on analogue], regardless of the fact that the first digital only programme was not until 7.30, and there are still opt ins of the opt outs, e.g. University Challenge.

There seem to be Wales on 2, 2W and both-identities-fading-in-and-out versions of these symbols.

No, the BBC2 Wales/2W ident is used at the crossover point from BBC2 to BBC2W. Or at least that was the way it used to run.

Yep, it was also shown on Network before Working Lunch so that one's definitely now aired. Probably the poorest of the set, and the camera-shaking really doesnt help it.
