I am personally confused as to why they wanted to switch to 14:9, considering the promos were broadcast in 16:9. It's only broadcast in digital, which is capable of switching between 16:9 and 14:9 on the set top boxes, so I don't see the need. The only country they would have to do this in is the states, and that can be done by their Washington center if so needed.
I thought there would be a bit more content to be honest, they've had the same top story since 4pm this afternoon. I thought they would have some stories from Europe aswell as AlJazeeras known locations. The press release did say, joining the North and the South or something along those lines, it seems the only joint is the places where the broadcast centres are. However the reporting has been great! As I said before, great launch!
It looks very sharp the pictures, the graphics are crisp too, the studios looking good, give it time and it will sort out the little glitches, but I am impressed, shame it's not in 16:9, seems to be a waste of an effort making everything HD, only to show it in 14:9 like BBC World.
Yes, I am too very impressed with this brilliant news service. I wonder how the BBC see this; I know one executive has said they have fierce competition. I hope AJE don't always interview every single reporter after every report, it's a bit annoying. I think AJE offers a much more comprehensive news round up than CNN though.
If it was any other News company setting up a news channel do you think we would have seen so many journalists joining? Aljazeera does have the advantage of already being a very well known brand even if people have never watched the Arabic channel. I think AJE will be good as i think we will see a different side to things in the Middle East. Dare i say it a more truthfull approach.
