Posts should not divert the natural flow of a topic, taking it significantly off-topic. This includes nitpicking the spelling and grammar of posts, as well as the posting of random images which have the same effect to a topic.

I think it's clear that we all know which presenter is being talked about, regardless of how you spell Freds' surname.

Sorry to have unwittingly started off the Fred Dine(n)age debate. I take it I spelt Warman correctly though? Wink

That's definitely Michael Winner, not Bob Warman.

Anyone up for a four-page discussion on the matter?

Calm down dear, it's only the presenter of Central News West (sorry 'Central Tonight Rolling Eyes )
ST
South Today
I feel Wesley Smith of Central South deserves a little mention here - himself and Anne Dawson were the longest serving regional team until her departure in 2002. Wes is still there though and still going strong!! Lets hope we see some decisions on the future of his job soon.

Nowhere near as long as Fred though.

Before his retirement in the mid 90s Bruce Hockin held some sort of record for length of service in regional news presentation, and I have a feeling that Fred D arrived at the helm in Southampton not that long after Bruce did in Bristol, so my money's on Fred since Mike Neville retired.

Rose Neill is Northern Ireland's longest serving television news presenter. According to her bio on BBC NI's web site, she started news reading at UTV 24 years ago; though I'm pretty sure the content on that web page is at least 2 years out of date.
