I wanted to do something really glassy and detailed for BBC News. Instead of trying to make the graphics bold and clear using blocks of colour, worrying too much about positioning or whether it would fit with the colours of the studio, I piled on the graphics and tried to put in the attention to detail. I can't animate this, but I would imagine it to be quite slick and lively. This mock is probably more about looks than anything else.

Excellent!

The concept is great, the graphics are sharp and look easy to read. A breath of fresh air for the News in HD.

However the the overlapping of the clock to the ticker looks like a slight problem, as well as it looking more Sky Newsy, with the text/graphics.

Other then that, it's great.

If it's in HD, surely the requirement of 4:3 safe graphics can be dropped? I'd like to see what can be done with the increased available screen space.

Thats true, HD graphics usually use the 14:9 safe area.

No, I take your point. I suppose it is inevitable when you're mocking something that is heavy on the graphics, that there is a possibility of it looking American. I tried to avoid those awful shadows they use and keep things as organised as possible. As for the widescreen thing, I was unsure about it but I've done some new versions that use the full screen area.

I really like them, especially the widescreen versions which ignore the safe areas. After all, anyone watching in HD would be viewing in 16:9, so it would make sense for broadcasters to start using the whole space available.

I also thought the "over-americanised" version was good........so FOX NEWS, made me laugh!

Cheers for doing new versions, Lee Smile It looks much better that way, especially as your design is all wide bands of colour. With a set up like this we wouldn't see the first word of sentances appearing underneath the tower like we do at the moment Laughing

Oooooooh... Shiny. Very Happy

As always Lee, these are top notch. It'll be interesting to see just how the adoption of HD is handled, and whether these sorts of very detailed graphics become the norm as a result.
