The closing ceremony did seem to fall apart a bit, from around about the time when Dame Edna became involved.
The host broadcaster feed did seem a bit below par - they didn't seem to know what shots to cut up next during much of the ceremony and the highlights bit at the end was a bit of a mess - in my opinon because they didn't redub it.
Also what went wrong during John Farnham's song - did the band actually play the opening lyric twice by mistake or was someone trying to splice two bits of VT together?

Liked the music used on interactive stream 1 between the end of the closing ceremony and the start of the highlights.

Closing ceremony was pretty awful really - too much of a concert and far too many speeches!
Well done to all the folks at the BBC though - I think the coverage this time has been pretty much faltless, though the host broadcaster not covering some events - including semi-final matches - was unacceptable!
Just a quick comment - something the BBC always does in major championships is have some really nice coming up sequences - but they seem to have numerous versions as you rarely see any more used than once!
Moving to other areas - Rubgy League, and specifically the Super League Show. Why isn't this shown nationwide - I know most clubs are in the North but if it was the other way round, all of Britain would see it!
More importantly, why is it still on BBC2 when BBC2 digital can not screen regional programmes. Surely it could be shown on BBC1 instead of repeats of Keeping up Appearances!

I think the Super League Show is only shown in the North because they have only bought rights for that region - given that most of the teams are based in those parts?
The BBC One vs BBC Two question - especially as more people watch digital - is a good one.
It will be interesting to see if the BBC, as I believe they are considering, remove all opt-out facilities from regional centres, and follow the ITV model of a centralised presentation system with studio feeds from the regions.
It would also potentially improve picture quality or reduce transmission bandwith as you would only be encoding once, not twice. (Currently BBC One is fed to the region compressed, decompressed, regional content dropped in, and then recompressed for transmission.)
If this model were followed, it would be potentially cheaper (though still not cost-free) to add BBC Two opt-out functionality on digital. However I still don't see this happening - especially on satellite (where there are only 4 BBC Two feeds)

When all regions are showing programmes it wouldn't be possible, but surely when there is just one regional variation from the main schedule the BBC could put that programme on their interactive streams on digital satellite (and Freeview when available).
They kind of do it already with Scrum V Live, which has an interactive service running (I think offering Welsh commentary) alongside the BBC2W broadcasts - but available nationwide.
It's something I've asked in the past - though never really got the answer - but wouldn't it be possible on digital satellite for the BBC to have kind of one stream for each region, along with the main network version, with BBC2 able to switch to the regional stream when it screens regional programmes.

Didn't BBC1 use to come into the regions as uncompressed SDI? Or did they have to sacrifice that to pay for the ATM network for regional DSAT? Presumably that means if you look carefully you should be able to slightly better picture quality on BBC London.
Presumably also if they were to switch to centralised studio feeds, it could (and would have to be, for practical reasons) remote-operable - ie. region gallery pushes a button which triggers a video matrix somewhere in White City to change sources.

I agree - once again the fact that the Beeb were on location really made the Games. Well done to everyone involved.
Winter Olympics and Commonwealtjs been and gone. Back to porridge now, I suppose.

Hmm similar to the Channel Islands operation? I guess there is a cost saving to be made by doing it that way, if you use the existing DSat backhaul circuit to get the studio contribution to London and feed everything from DSat you could effectively rip out the Net1 distribution circuit.

Thoughts that have occurred to me on more than one occasion during the Commonwealth Games coverage have been:
"Oooo, that's a nice ECP - oh, of course, it's not an ECP - it's a BBC Sport Next/Later graphic"
and
"Oooo, that's a nice split-screen for a two-way - why don't News 24 do something similar"? Notice they even go as far as captioning the presenter and location, i.e. "CLARE BALDING // Studio" on the left-hand window and the Guest's name on the right-hand window.
All told, I prefer BBC SPORT's graphics - presentational, promotional and informational - to any other BBC graphics at the moment - an opinion I have held for about 4 years now!
Perhaps BBC SPORT should have put in a pitch for a new TX branding/graphics package?!
...mind you, they haven't been sold off (yet) so I guess they can't tender.

Completly agree! Also thought the "Next/Later" graphic would make a nice layout for the interactive service.
