It looks like Midlands Today have moved into a bigger studio. In the 360 degree toour on the Midlands Today website, the door to the studio is to the side of the weather area, and there isn't as much floor space as there is in the photograph.

nope - theyre still upstairs. it looks bigger than it is as, in that picture, we are looking through a 'porch' type space which is in between the studio and the corridor. to the left is the gallery, and to the right is the studio.

so we are looking through 2 doors in that pic.

Saw half of MT tonight (Was watching TOTP2 instead !).

Caught the sports bully with Clampy, plus the live link with Franksy on WM.

I see they've still got that 'Station Of the Year' notice in the studio, even though they were only in 1998 !

Anyone spot the obvious 'BBC Radio Shropshire' logo, covering the 'BBC WM 95.6 FM' logo, when promoting the footy tonight.

(TV Mercia, hope you've got some captures of this!)

Then Blondie the weather girl was shopping at Asda Tipton, for pancake ingredients.

On a different note, nice to see Mr Doolan's stalker has been given 18 months.

I wonder what you'll get for stalking Gaunty? (Only joking!)

live to franksey in the radio wm studio for a bit of shameless cross promotion
http://www.tvmercia.co.uk/upload/040303--bbcmids02.jpg

and what a nice microphone cover - i like the way the whole piece was conducted from such a ridiculous shot
http://www.tvmercia.co.uk/upload/040303--bbcmids03.jpg

and to round things off, alison is at asda tippon buying eggs, milk, flour and lemons - it only took her a full 30 minutes to do - even then she didnt reach the checkout! bless her.

it couldnt possibly be due to the complete and utter mess up they had with the weather yesterday, where they stuck all the weather charts to air rather than keying them behind her - even today the charts seemed a bit out of order.

it may be a funny camera angle, i'm not sure

With that being a 360 image, the ends meet at one point. that's why it looks bigger. imagine it being a round circle: O

but because it's a flat image of a 360 degree one it looks like this: ---

Does that make sense?

oh yes, its been such a treat to wake up to kay so often on midlands breakfast since sophie packed her bags for the south west. and catching kay on the one oclock is just an added bonus! such a shame they'll not let her back on the 6.30 - perhaps theyre scared kay would be TOO good, putting everyone else to shame!

i hope theyre not looking for a new presenter to fill sophie's old shifts, as the current situation means mike and kay appear rather frequently, with the odd james mcdonald and *cough* sharuna bulletins thrown in.

and the 2nd feature was about how midland clubs felt itv were sidelining them when it comes to the premiership, in order to show man u, arsenal etc.

tom ross from Xtra Am put the case for the viewers, whilst the head of itv sport and gary newbon were in defence.

Stop! - Xtra AM has not been heard since midnight on Monday 1st June 1998. You mean Capital Gold Birmingham - where Tom is the sports editor...

i have never heard anyone call it "capital gold, birmingham" (except on the radio). indeed at work its a case of "can some one put that onto xtra am" (its not me saying that, obviously, with xtra being "radio for plumbers"). we also have a selection of xtra am "keep right on" stickers on the windows - so the name well and truely lives on!

bbc midands also stuck a gill-sans central logo onto tonights football highlights Very Happy so it seems alot of recent rebrands arent quite as effective as companies would wish to believe.

mike collie back on midlands breakfast today - but hes got a suprise up his sleeve! during the 8.55 bulletin he handed over to ed doolan at radio wm, so ed could plug his show (even though it is only relevant to viewers in the west midlands and warks *snigger*)

it looks like bbc midlands are trying to do an LDN, by being tri-media, doesnt quite come off in the same way though - still a nice idea - an alternative for viewers who dont want to watch kilroy. perhaps the whole 8.55 could be a 'round-the-region' radio station plugging session - i mean they have fixed camera positions at all except shropshire havent they?

an interesting idea - i wonder if its justa one-off for ed doolan's unmissable council tax spectacular, or a regular feature?

oh yes, a very 'nice' programme - i thought at first llew was trying to look authoritative with her glasses - but luckily it was the same old llew we know and love. bob warman was too busy vacuuming getting ready for his tupperware party later on, apparently.

im not too hot on all this positive discrimination lark - but i don’t think that’s what the idea behind it all was, more to highlight that women are in important positions already, and are as capable as men (i think?).

the only male intrusion on this women only affair is in the form of chis eubank - in to plug his appearance on kicking it around later tonight. the more he tried to sound clever, the more foolish he came across to the viewer (obviously i wouldn’t say it to his face...) - and llew chucked in a few sarcastic comments.

Regarding the BBC2 opt out, they had kept it quiet until the other day, or else we would have all been happily watching 'The Good Life' (Yeah, right !!!).

How have the TV listing mags mentioned it?

'What's on TV' mentioned it, at the bottom of the page, along with Wales varitations, but don't they mention BBC North's Sunday rugby show in the main text too?

(BTW how many people watch the digital versions of the terrestrial channels, compared to the analogue versions these days? Maybe time for another thread ?)

Last night's MT featured another visit to the Mailbox, with jokey comments from both Nick & Susanne regarding each other('Some woman in a cream trouser suit' & a reference to a scary photo of Nick Owen at the Mailbox!), also featuring Country File's John Craven, Susanne & WM's Julie Mayer, who had threatened to wear her mini skirt there, when she mentioned it just after 6am on the 95.6 WM Brekky Show yesterday.

(Can I be the first, in the event of TV Mercia posting a piccy up, to say ' Well Hello ! (twang!)', Listeners to Tony & Julie's version of the more superior 'Late Show', will know what I mean !)

Also can I post a correction to my last post.

Doolan did not have a stalker as such. The gentleman had been plaguing him with various racist letters etc, causing Ed to fear for his safety etc.

Plus Chinnie's in Romania too !
