I have been thinking of a small construction change for the ITV News in 2006. The walkway would be taken apart, with the left side and the path going. The right hand side of the walkway would stay and next to the newswall at the right would be some perspex glass showing a projection of the newsroom. The walkway from the right of the newswall would carry on to this prespex part with a square floor infront. Here would be a pod or a table for Sports roundup or the Top story.
At the left of the newswall would be a square walkway with a new desk on. The background of the newswall would be a gallery shot or a view over London,it would also be used to show pictures from a story.

Edit : Pictures Later Tonight!

This may disapoint you but the ITV news set is not actuly there, all it is is a news desk and the floor and walls are green. What happens is the cameras have sensors on them and there are sensors on the celing, the sensors tell the computer where the camera is and what view to give. The computer takes away all of the green colour that the background (which is why they dont wear green) and replaces it with the 3D set and reflection below the wall for the desk's reflection they made by computer. It is kind of like the weather.

I think it is great how they do the set however the news reader cant actuly see the person unless they look at the TV on top of the camera or TV that they have showing what it will be like

Not being pedantic, but you are not exactly correct.

Everything is there, desk, walkway, studio lights etc. Its just the picures behind the presenters that are not there. Created using CSO green overlay. The floor is actually the colour you see in the above the picture (blue). Sorry to be picky!

Are you sure, I am sure I saw it on a program and the floor was green and they said they use projectors so they know where to look when the person is on the screen

The floor is defo just the colour you see on tv, it is not green. I believe they project faint images so that the presenters know roughly where to look, but the actual studio is very much as you see it the tv, bar the green CSO wall.

Is that the studio you are thinking of? It is used by reporters when using graphics in their reports.

When the News Channel had to be out of the main studio to allow for ITV 1 News rehearsals, they would often decamp into this studio with a desk. It did look like the ITV News set, but slightly different.

That is the in the 'fake set' which is completely CSO.

That is the real set, used on ITV 1.

You can see the reflections and brightness of the desk are slightly different. Hope I haven't bored you, lol!

The Paul O'Grady Show recently had something about ITV News where Mark Austin briefly explained how the set works - they were on the fake set, so that's where you probably saw it.
