1980's theme was it?

1992-1999 one.

I knew it.

Anyway, sad to see Trevor go. He has really been the "face" and voice of ITN for decades (for me anyway).

Salut

I nice end there I do have to say so, and hearing the old theme again was a nice touch. Farewell Trevor, you will be missed.

That was an anti-climax really - though the old theme was a nice touch.

I think John Suchet out did him with regards exit speeches (and I wonder if Trevor will turn up on Five News in a couple of years?)

Well I thought the way he did tonight's news showed that he was professional to the end. There could have been a lot of emotion involved, but I wouldn't think that he would want to leave like that. A newsreader of true calibre who will be truly missed at ITN.

Thank you. In fact I was on TVF when I remembered it was his last bulletin (at around 10.50).

This really has made me come over all nostalgic. But I think it's fully justified. ITV News really has gone downhill since 1999, to say the least. The axing of "News at Ten" marked the effective end of ITN, and it's been dying ever since. Hearing that music just reinforced for me the difference in quality between the old and the new. The old music was dignified and prestigious; the new one is pathetic in comparison - too many loud drumbeats, and generally just too trendily modern. I'm not being very articulate, but I hope you know what you mean... With the awful Mark Austin at the helm of the new 10.30 bulletin and Alastair Stewart's programme gone because of the axing of the News Channel, I very much doubt I'll be watching ITV News at all in future.

Here it is again. It's nice to hear the old theme, but strange hearing it with "modern" graphics!

erm, we are discussing Trevor McDonald's last bulletin here not launching into a generic rant for the sake of it. Considering your sad user name you are biased anyway

You just realised posting about the usage of capital letters was too 'anorak' and edited it...

But again, well done Trev. What will he be doing now?
