At long last we have someone decent on HTV News this weekend. Juliet Piper just said on the late night news she'll be back tommorow! And considering she's been in since lunchtime today she was very cheerful too!

Both Tara and Juliet have been used a lot this week which isnt a bad thing IMO

Anyone see Barry Welsh St. Davids Day special last night. I've never watched him before but it was quite good.

And by the way, Gareth Edwards has been elected the new Patron Saint of Wales, just piping Sian Lloyd to the post.

The scary thing about Barry Welsh and his character, Mr Fffff is that Mr Fffff really does exist! He lives in Lamas Street in Carmarthen! Laughing

I saw the beginning of it when they had the old HTV logo and said it was coming from Culverhouse Cross. But come on is this the best they can do for a St Davids Day programme - I just find the man really irritating!

I thoroughly enjoyed the progam!
A sort of countdown to St David's Day and then just as it was approaching midnight the tape stopped and St Gareth's Day was announced!

I just wonder what type of program YOU really would have liked to have seen?

If you want a load of old blokes singing Welsh songs and having a twmpath im sure S4C will be broadcasting that type of stuff ALL night tonight!

Good on HTV for broadcasting something a bit different from the traditional St David' Day type of program that BBC and S4C usually do. Also what are the BBC broadcasting this year? Ive looked through the tv guides and cant see anything remotely connected to St David's Day!

Im sure there was something else to do with St David's Day on HTV earlier aswell - but i missed that one!

No I dont like that sort of stuff either - I dont know what I would have liked to have seen - someone presenting other than Barry Welsh thats for sure.

And as for the BBC did you really expect them to show anything?

Daffodil watch

Juliet Piper was wearing one on the 1.05pm bulletin (good girl Juliet) but Emma didnt have one on the weather - well its not as ifshe's Welsh so why would she. It would have been nice if Ruth Wignell had done the weather but I expect they are too tight to pay both of them for the weekends.

Oh and Sian Lloyd on the national weather had a leek on too! I probably wont be at home for the 5pm bulletin so there you go 1 daffodil and 1 leek.

The organisation I work for is involved in the Urdd Eistefodd in May as Neath Port Talbot is hosting it. Maybe someone from HTV News will be coming to report on this. Ioan from Hornblower is coming too.
Ive also just discovered that horseworthy is the Swansea reporter for HTV News!

I'll have a look for a daffodil on Newyddion -- it's important! No Wales Today bulletins left this evening though. I didn't see Barry Welsh, but Sian Lloyd was on Popcorn yesterday, though I wasn't really paying attention. Do the BBC ever do anything? Apart from mention it in the continuity.

When I went to Swansea Market this afternoon they had sold out of Welsh Cakes - they had Bara Brith but ive never fancied that.

I would have thought HTV could have scheduled a welsh drama tonight. Now Nuts and Bolts has been axed they are short on drama and as far as im aware HTV make nothing for the ITV1 Network - well it would say "A Carlton Production" if they did anyway.

Good old former Mrs HTV, Jenny Ogwen, had her daffodil on the weather and Gary Owen and Iolo ap Dafydd also. HTV have their hands tied since there are no regional slots on Saturday -- ITV are too busy filling it full of lowest common denominator crap..

Bara brith is evil and it stinks. Who decided it would be nice to make a cake out of tea bags and insects swept up from the floor? Mmmm, I'll have two.. Confused Pancakes are a good thing though, as I said. Lava bread can go to hell.

It's been a very long time since something was made by HTV for network ITV -- I don't see why though. There seems to be some sort of mysterious embargo, it's not even entertained that an HTV production could be networked, just Central, London, GMG North, and Anglia for Trisha. Rolf's Cartoon Club was HTV wasn't it?

Insects? Well im very glad I havent eaten any - tea bags is bad enough but insects yuk!

Rolfs Carltoon Club was a HTV West production I think?

Nothing from HTV West, West-country or HTV Wales ever gets shown on ITV1 network these days. Its either Carlton, LWT, Granada, YTV, Meridian or Anglia.

Yeah its a shame there are no regional shows on a Saturday - they could have opted out of the 9.15pm programme - do they need permission to opt out of the network?

Tommorows local programmes are;

12.30 Soccer Sunday, 2pm Waterfront and 5.30 Coast to Coast - I think the presenter on this is the runner up from Presenters?

In honour of my seeing a weekend HTV bulletin for the first time in I don't know how long, here's a capture of the newsreader today -- Juliet Piper ~

Any excuse, really.. Smile
And she said that highlights of the match would be later "on HTV Wales" ! I always liked that Juliet, LOL.
Also Emma on the weather, in 14:9 again. Just bad news that it's Richard Nosworthy for GMTV tomorrow..

I haven't seen Coast To Coast for ages either, just a shame it's part of the North Wales coast today... Ah well, can't have everything.

It'd be nice if ITV1 Wales used the Clouds ident on a Sunday afternoon, like Border Scotland, it's very nice
