Yep, very nice -- I like the font for the NEWS bit. Just that I'm growing more and more convinced we're losing HTV in the title. Perhaps not as soon as next week [they surely would've mentioned something?]. If they don't then that's a very nice design, I can see it looking nice in an aston. You didn't have any trumpets in mind, did you?

And Jez, this thread is around 85% about HTV News! So the BBC have won an award, and in some ways deservedly so, so it's a chance to talk about something else Wales-related for a change! No doubt I'll change it to something tomorrow for St David's Day..

Oh, and weren't the Assembly pushing for a Bank Holiday for 1st March? For like the 3rd time..

Fair enough as long as you dont expect me to say how happy I am for the BBC robbing HTV of that award!

And yes I think we should all have a Bank Holiday here in Wales for St Davids Day - afterall in Scotland and Northern Ireland they seem to have a few extra Bank hols.

That HTV News logo is very good Jamez - I wonder if it will be this monday they revamp the show - have they ever given any previous warning before? Maybe in 1994 when Wales at Six ended and was replaced by Wales Tonight it was obvious they would have a revamp. And the same when HTV News moved to 6pm again in 1999 but other than that no previous warning had been given.

I missed GMTV this morning (was sleeping) so did Justina turn up or was it Sally?

But how are they going to manage to schedule all of these different programmes when they only have 1 slot on a Sunday (when you take away Waterfront and Soccer Sunday) and only about 6 slots during the week - lots of opt outs of the network I think and quite rightly so too! HTV are allowed 3 opt outs I believe but atm they are only using one opt out on a Friday at 2.30pm.

Oh and Steve wont be back on The Pop Factory until 8th May so we've a while to wait to see him

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but Wales Today are showing a special behind-the-scenes look at how the programme is made tonight.

Should be worth watching. I'll try and get some grabs.

Its Sally this morning - she doesnt seem happy at all but then again the news is nothing but depressing - shootings, job losses in Cardiff, Welsh newspapers facing competition from National papers etc

Top story is that two people have been shot dead in Carmarthanshire.

And Carole Green did a report about St Davids Day possibly being made a national holiday in Wales.

Apparently Anglesey County Council *have* given their employees the day off for St Davids Day! Boo. And that manky lava bread crap with the sawdust or whatever it is was on sale in Swansea, where we can expect to eat EIGHT times as many Welsh cakes tomorrow as normal! Not me, mind -- I think they're vile.

And bad news for the town of Llangadog today.. Just a few weeks ago they were on the news for the "big cat" [or, badger] that killed a whippet and was drinking at the creamery.

I don't know if HTV News would give a warning that it would be revamping, but I would think so -- it's what usually happens, especially if there is a big news change.. No mention tonight, so I guess it's another week of HTV News next week.

Sally Johnson was on GMTV bulletins this morning, and Ruth did the weather [I think she always does Thurs and Fri] -- she had some bizarre roses top on.

I have been asked for something St Davids-y to put on the thread, so I'll put some special S4C~ break bumpers later on, there's a dragon, a glass, and a daffodil that I've seen, that they started using this morning. Meanwhile they're using the 2002 daffodils/magic hat ident, so I'll post that in the meantime. And HTV are putting their St Davids programmes on tonight, on account of there being no regional programmes on a Saturday. But watch out for daffodils on the news bulletins and weather forecasts!

Eeek -- there's a scary man dressed as a leek on Wales Today!

Wales Today finished at about 6:55 this evening [which was before the English regions!], but they didn't go back to Sophie in London. The only time I remember them doing that recently was during the second week of September 2001. I didn't see any behind the scenes. And no Derek! Grr.

Instead there was a Party Conference Broadcast by the Welsh Labour Party -- I guess we're going to start getting a lot of these from now on until May...

Yeah a good programme tonight from HTV - always nice to see Juliet - did you notice she fluffed a line at the end when she said about the late news? She's doing it tonight anyhow. Every day this week one of the 6pm presenters has done the Mid afternoon and late night news except for when Justina did the 3pm bulletin on Monday - got my hopes up that she was doing 6pm and then they took it away from me - shame on them!!!!




I agree about the lava bread - its vile! I dont mind Welsh Cakes but I seriously doubt people will eat 8 times the usual tommorow!!! Were you in Swansea today TV D ? I was - didnt go in any £ shops though!

Yeah Barry bloody Welsh - such exciting tv I cant stand it! I wouldnt hold your breath on the weather presenter wearing a daff tommorow as it will probabaly be one of the Carlton presenters. But whoever does the news *should* wear one - I wonder who it will be? If its Nosworthy, Mcteer or Andrew Jones the whole weekend of bullitins will be a shambles!

Yeah, they're certainly using Tara and Juliet a bit more than before, and I'm sure Lucy is glad of the rest because they were doing 5-day weeks for a long while. Then again, so does the rest of the world [sadly ], so they can't grumble too much.

I honestly don't expect to see Justina at 6pm for a good while yet -- she's just too junior at the moment. And what a turn-around, from being totally anti-Ruth, to pro-Ruth! But I've always liked her, and it's nice to have her back on the team. Derek was off again today on WT, Tom Schaffernaker stood in. He's not that bad I suppose, but he's erm, not *quite* the same..

I think they just meant they'll sell 8 times as many Welsh cakes cos people who don't usually buy them will -- not that everyone will be eating 16 tomorrow! All Welsh food is horrid -- Welsh cakes, lava bread and especially Bara Brith [cake made out of tea bags and insects]. Ugh. Pancakes are nice though -- and it's Pancake Day round the corner...

I hate Barry Welsh's programme, but I'm sure he has an audience else he wouldn't keep being recommissioned every year for 45 years.. Be on the daffodil look out tomorrow, since I don't watch the local news on weekends really.

Ive set up a HTV News poll (again!!!) I love my HTV dont I!

TBH I was half joking over my issues with Ruth - she doesnt annoy me half as much as I make out and now I cannot stand James Wright it would be nice to see Ruth on instead of him. I know you fancy Ruth - well you said she was pretty so I assume you do - She does nothing for me but then again a certain male reporter I like does nothing for you either - but at least we agree about Sexy Steve from Pop Factory!

Hopefully I will see the 5pm bulletin tommorow in between coming in and going out again. Maybe the reason Lucy's been off 2 days is cos she is the weekend presenter but I doubt it - we usually get someone terrible on the weekends. Maybe Carole Green as she is the best of the bad lot! Dont worry i'll send you a full and detailed report on this thread tommorow!
