Hello guys,

Please don't shoot me down for this or say 'Let's see yours first', this is just a general idea that could hopefully help to improve this section of the forum...

We've seen mocks for Idents, News channels and even News Studios - so why not have a go at designing your own set?

(You don't have to do it in 3D or anything like that - just use your imagination and the software you have to try and get your idea across)

Shows that you could design a new set for include...

Arrow X Factor
Arrow Ant and Dec's Takeaway
Arrow The Paul O'Grady Show
Arrow Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

...you could even do it for totally new shows or ones that are coming up:

Arrow Graham Norton's Generation Game
Arrow Chris Evans' Sunday Night Show

...or even big events like

Arrow The National Television Awards
Arrow The Brit Awards

...of course you can totally ignore these ideas and come up with your own it's just an area that interests me as well as graphics, and thought that there wasn't alot of these sort of designs on here.

Just an idea!

I don't have the design softwear but I do have some ideas will they do?

I like the concept of a picture window like this mornings set or camera views like on local news for GMTV rather than their decade old summer dawn photo which looks a bit odd in the winter when it's dark outside but they have a daytime view behind them.

I agree with this. I'm actually surprised that they haven't changed it before now. I know that they tried changing the backdrop, but even that was a daytime view.

They either need to use another studio (or have the offices coverted as This Morning did), get a backdrop that they vary the lighting up of, so that they can have it darker during the winter/early morning, and lighter in the summer and vary it according to the weather.

Alternatively they could just install either screens, say LCD screens within the wall, or the glass made famous by Sky, which not only would display the image of a live feed (or varied recorded ones, but obviously live feedss would work the best), but with it being glass would give the impression of it being a real window.

Plus they could always display different images on there. For example, they could use it to display graphics on the News Hour, or display different locations, or use it as a screen to show reporters say along the wall next to them, it would be very effective, but I'm not sure on the cost.

Yes, the last GMTV revamp was abit of a let down. I don't have the necessary software to do it, but I'm sure I could come up with something better which involved some sort of live/recored view and a different set layout. One big sofa as the central theme is getting abit boring after 20+ years (including TV-am).
