Minimal n24

I've only done a couple of screens because it's more of a tweak than a re-design.

It makes a few minor changes to BBC News 24 with the goal of removing screen clutter.

Screen One
This slide shows a BBC News 24 presenter generally talking with the scrolling ticker across the bottom.

Screen Two
This slide shows the presenter introducing a story. Instead of the scrolling ticker staying and a big box appearing above as happens now, a small box appears off the top and the ticker is replaced.

Screen Three
This slide shows the actual story, this is the first 10 seconds of the story with the intro graphics remaining on screen.

This is what you will see after the initial 10 seconds of the story - just the BBC News 24 DoG.

What do you think? Should I do more or leave well alone.

Seems a bit outdated, what with the DOG and straps...

My main problem is with the removal of the clock during stories, I can't see the logic behind it, decluttering or not. Otherwise it's almost sadistically going backwards in terms of design for BBC News so stay well back once the touch paper has been ignited.

Thanks - you're right it does look a bit dated and doesn't reflect the current trend of bolder and simpler and um... boxier.

So the ticker is only on screen when there isn't a story being introduced or a package being played out or any other astons on screen. When would it be shown, exactly?

You're of course totally correct - this was a badly thought out mock - I need to go back to the drawing board.

Yeah, I never liked the DOG up in the corner, just like almost every other channel does; at least BBC NEWS 24 went for a different idea!

The DOG looks like the old-style bbc (i.e before 2002 when it changed)
Fine though, just that needs changing
