Not really bad for a middle of the table region, some valuable network contributions and a strong regional track record, but it all seems so long ago really.
I'm quite fond of the old HTV - long before the likes of Owen-Cohen & that dodgy announcer bloke we have now.
I remember the days with Wiggy & Dilwyn at the desk and Alan Rustard doing news (just!).
Bring back the old HTV or why not create a new channel just for Wales! ITV Wales is the biggest pile of old crap ever - which is a shame, because HTV in it's heyday was superb. I wish I was old enough to have taken proper notice of it when it was on.
I think you'll find that ITV Wales has NO money to spend.
Over the last few years HTV now ITV Wales, had been bought and re-sold to at least three different companies before the final merger of ITV.
Each time a bit more of their assets being stripped away.
The team at what's left at HTV are bloody good for what they do.
I know that some of the current Media Centre buildings over at Culverhouse are now rented out to other media companies, but surely it would make sense for ITV Wales to move to a smaller HQ, perhaps in the bay?
Well with the news that Westcountry MIGHT be getting a new set on Monday, it surely cant be much longer until HTV Wales get a new set and we finally get rid of that desk!
Carole Green presented the bulletins today on ITV Wales.
I was speaking to a friend of mine (ITV WALES TRAINEE ASSISTANT CO-ORDINATOR *********) he said that talks are in place for the construction of the new studio and should be ready by the ITV revamp.
They looking at revamping the studio fully with modern facilities e.g new cameras 16:9 Hitachi and lighting. Totally different look to the long floor studio and moving the set to the other half of their current studio which will give them more scope to add various new set props. They are also going to be changing the titles to coincide with the new ITV logos. November - December.
These ideas are still in talks, I'll keep you updated.
Thanks.
