A new stripey look for channel five, with a dot on the i! Hurrah!

Idents
Stripes would move quickly in one direction, overlapping at different speeds whilst the logo formed behind some of them eventually coming into focus.

ECPs
Would adopt a random color scheme.

Regarding the logo you have designed, I have two issues to point out, the text is actually quite hard to read with the 'f' in 'five' looking rather uncomfortable, maybe consider a different font there, as in my opinion the five brand works very well on the light, non obstructive font currently used. Also regarding the logo, I don't see how incorporating a dot on the 'i' in 'five' will help in any way, currently the logo in use is very stylish, easy to read and highly adaptable, try not to change what is already good enough to most people.

With this is mind, I have created the logo below, more towards the current look of five's logo, than that made by James.

As for the promo graphics, well essentially yours were just different coloured stripes flipped horizontally with some random effects on them, once again - quite hard on the eye I found, therefore have come up with this desing - flexible for a promo and ident.

As you can see, I have developed on the idea of random stripes, but they have a purpose, animating in for 2-3 seconds until one green stripe is left on the far right of the screen, which will in turn, produce a timeline of text, displaying programmes coming up on five.

Note how I have also boxed the 'five' logo, simply because at the last minute in design stage, I felt the yellow font which is so vivid throughout, needed a unique backdrop as apposed to just grey, where other text occupies that specific colour.

I personally think the five brand prides itself on being sleek, corporate and highly effective, changing the font to bold, giving the 'i' a dot and going for any random stripes is all ok, aslong as it is implemented well and with reason.

Feel free to comment on this too James!

They're interesting but don't really hold a candle to currently whats out there. That dot over the i does seem a bit of an afterthought and those stripes, they're terrible.

James, I love them. They are really funky and modern. They would look great on TV!!!
Well done!

Very nice mocks, Sam.

I would say that I have not put as much effort into this as I perhaps should have, so I am going to work on some improved designs and come back here.

Your ideas are very well thought out, I would like to see more of your work! Smile Have a nice day, talk to you later.

I like them and don't think the text is too hard to read but I do think that the letters are a bit to cramped.

Love the simple backdrop, think it goes well with the logo

Think everyone else has covered it all, but one question: how do these fit the brand? Is there a reason for the colours and stripes? Can't see any rationale behind them at all.

Look East, JamesH, a good job around. I like the color effects, that would lend themselves well on screen, as opposed to being overly busy. The only problem I have with James mocks are that there may be some readability issues with the 'five' logo. The text overlap looks nice, however. Work on that a bit more, and got it.

Look East, what can I say about simplicity. Sometimes flash isn't necessary, and you design illustrates it. Keep it up.
