This may be considered off-topic and I was going to pop this into the Midlands thread, but I figured it'd probably be better served with a new thread of its own...
It's so sad.
I have a friend who worked at Pebble Mill until the bitter end, he's now at the Mailbox but someone's been and taken some photos over the last few days...
Sad to see the wee beastie finally face the ball of decision or wrecking ball, you decide....
I suppose it finally had to happen, what with the building been empty and all but still.
Does anyone know if Midlands Today plans to cover it? Would make rather a nice feature.
I was in Birmingham the other day and got rather lost but was surprised at the number of sign still up for the Mill.
I seem to remember not to long along they were blowing up chunks of the Mill...
It not only just signifies the end of a building, but the true end of the kind of thing Pebble Mill produced in the past. It's a shame to think they're pretty much restricted to OBs now they don't have a studio production base. Sad, very sad.
MT did a brief bit on Friday when it was being hacked into - Kay was on at lunchtime and looked a bit sad and even said "ooohhh kleenex on standby I think..."

I am amazed they have left the BBC logo on the building as they demolish it...
1. It is no longer a BBC building, so confusing, especially to guests who may not have realised the building has moved.
2. It is an amazingly negative "Latest BBC cuts" etc. photo opportunity...

Seems a bit of a mistake to me
But surely its cheaper to just leave the logo up there and remove it as the building is knocked down than pay to put up some scaffolding, and then get someone up there to remove something which is likely to be thrown away anyway.

We mustn't forget the new "Drama Village" production centre at Birmingham Uni - I'm not clear on how much actual studio space there is though.
