The Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Thread

It was the headline sequence. Calendar haven't had a proper headline sequence for years.

Previously we got the full opening titles, followed by some headlines and then straight into the first story. Now we get that stood up intro, followed by the titles as far as the sting (like some other regions do which personally I don't like, you're left holding on for the end of the music), the headlines and then the sting (which read 'Calendar News' I presume in error tonight'

As others have said they are making good use out of the studio with loads of different shots and various combinations of standing up and sitting down (do London Tonight do the standing up?). That front plasma is a good idea. Not quite sure about the generic 4 squares on the main large one. Christine looked a bit uncomfortable turning round and putting her knee on the sofa to do that interview. They do have some sort of skyline view but are hardly using it instead using the screen to illustrate the story.

London Tonight do a little bit of standing up by one of the plasmas for the short other news stories.

Yes, I too noticed the sting reading Calendar News , they didn't mention any change of name? Maybe it will be Calendar Tonight , but the titles haven't finished? Or maybe I am just ranting on...

It'll be interesting to see what they use on the main screen for bulletins, I hope it's not those generic squares. They should use that skyline shot but I suppose they are avoiding it to stop them being Leeds-centric

When you compare the old with the new, there really is no comparison is there. It's quite startling how much of an improvement it is for them.

The main feature previously was that huge tupperware box style desk which was a bit inflexible really.

I take it that blue skyline they were using briefly was of Leeds, I couldn't really tell. What they ought to do is change it regularly, so one day you get a view of the Humber Bridge, another Lincoln Cathedral etc so that it doesn't feel too Leeds centric.

It is a big comparison isn't it, the way the new set goes round makes it look like a proper set, the previous one was just a bit of a corner really.


Or if they had a live shot of Hull and Sheffield in the sub opt studios they could probably get away with a shot of Leeds in the main studio.

I wonder if there was more news or more sport or what in tonight's show to fill the space usually taken by the OB.

Any caps from the late bulletin? What background(s) did they use?
